Getting spayed tomorrow Our little Gracie is getting spayed tomorrow. She is 7 months old and weighs a little under 3 lbs. Is there anything we should be really concerned about or something we should do tonight? Of course we will be worried sick about her the whole day tomorrow. Thanks |
I am sure your vet gave you instructions about holding her food/water after a certain time tonight...So other than lots and lots of hugs and kisses to give her I am sure all will go just fine tomorrow. It's amazing how our little babies make us worry so much huh? She will want even more hugs and kisses when you bring her home. Keep us posted. :aimeeyork |
For tonight, no food or water. Lots of cuddles (this is for your benefit more than hers, lol). For tomorrow, the usual advice. Make sure they use the right anesthetic (isoflourene - sp?), request that the VET put the tube down her throat (do NOT let the vet TECH do it). Ask whether they're using stitches or glue for the layer of skin closest to the outside. Will they suggest an "e" collar so as to not bother the stitches? They should send you home with post-operation instructions. No food or water until later at night (some suggest even the next day). I went through this last month and I can honestly say that it was harder on me than on Lexi. When she awoke the next day, she was almost 100%!!! I'm sure you'll receive more advice from the board members. Good Luck. We'll be thinking about you and waiting to hear that all went well. |
Will keep Gracie in my prayers. Like others have said I think it is harder on us with all that we worry. They are tuff little ones and before you know it she will be back to herself. Please let us know how she is.............Cindy |
