New Here! Hey everyone! I have been a yorkie talk stalker for a while now. Descided to go ahead and become a member. I am the proud mommy of a 10 week old yorkie baby. Her name is Luna and I love her to the moon and back! She is full of herself, the complete opposite of the diva dog I had pictured in my head. But, she is PERFECT! My boyfriend gave her to me as an early birthday gift and turns out he probably saved her life. After some research and talking to the vet She came from a puppy mill. Who had given her the wrong shots. :( Day after she came home we had a small issue with the hypoglycemia. Fixed that within 10 minutes. We went for the right shots and she had an allergic reaction to those!! After a long day for mommy and baby all is good now. We are happy to be part of this site and hope to learn lots and lots!! Having trouble getting a picture of her to upload! I will keep trying... |
Hi and WELCOME :) - so glad you joined us! Yorkie Talk Stalker...I like that :D! Your little girl sounds just adorable...I'm so sorry to hear she was from a puppy mill. Bc of this, I'd especially recommend you get insurance on her asap -- and have the vet document in her records right now that there are no knee problems. That way, if she gets LP down the road...the surgery will be covered if you get insurance now. Puppy mill dogs can develop health problems, so insurance would be a really good idea. I have it on all 3 of mine, and they're not mill dogs - but still have some issues. It's saved me thousands of dollars! On the reactions...now that you know she has them - you'd want to give her Benadryl about 45mins before ANY future vaccine - the dose is 1-2mg per pound. Also, you want to note which vaccine caused the reaction, if you can. If the vaccine in question is not a Core vaccine, then don't give it again, ever. If you don't know the core vaccines etc - go here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-overview.html Again, so glad you joined and am looking forward to learning more about your little spitfire :)! |
Welcome! Your baby girl is adorable! |
Pet insurance is on the top of my to do list! My vet has checked her from top to furry bottom, she has a clean bill of health! The shots were core shots. The list of shots the breeder gave us was no good. The vet said with her size and with the shots they had listed it was lucky she was even alive. So we are not sure if maybe they did not actually give her what they said they did or if she was just lucky enough because she knew I was coming into her life. The vet and I are both keeping a very detailed record of every single thing that is done to her. I even write down when I clip her nails. I am a little ocd when it comes to keeping records but it may pay off someday. Lol I live |
