Need advice on walking puppy Malley, my 7 mo. old yorkie loves walks, but when she sees someone walking their dog, she goes crazy. She pulls, growls, and barks until out of range. I've tried to divert her attention, walk the other way, tell her to look at me, put her in a sit but nothing has worked. The first time it happened was when a new neighbor with a large black dog crossed the street towards us to let dogs meet & greet. Malley has also barked at people only and there have been times when she has not. I've been at puppy school (Petco) the last six weeks with no problem. She's fine with other dogs and activity in the store where she's also on a leash. She's very friendly and loves people, other dogs etc. Any suggestions appreciated because I love walking my dogs (have westie too) and it's very embarassing! Also, Malley gets crazy about 3p eveyday (think she's excited because she eats at 4:30p and loves food) and barks alot. She's quiet and naps most of day but has high energy mid-day. Once she eats, she's fine. |
Hello, Just wanted to say HI even though I can't offer any advice. My Teddy does everything that yours does and I'm still working with him at 11 months to stop everything you've mentioned or at least reduce the frequency. You will get good advice here! |
Cookie stands on two legs like an angry bear when she sees a bigger dog. She doesn't growl, but always tries to make herself look bigger. |
