Well we thought that if two are good three is better or even four. So we have four. But we actually went through a time of loosing two of our little senior girls quickly. We immediatly felt the void in our home along with weeks of crying. Now we have four and our youngest ones have a ball together. We still have one senior boy who is 13 but the younger yorkies love him and keep a check on him. We nicked named him grandddaddy Beamer. So many laughs these days because there is never a dull minute. They all know when its breakfast, lunch and dinner lining up with thier different whining sounds of hurry. They kind of fall into their routine together even our youngest little girl runs in the kitchen with the older guys. Not to say theres no work involved OH theres plenty and even some hectic times. But when they all have matured our life is filled with well trained and very loving little companions. Tosh is 19 mos. Tova is 15 mos. Tassel is now 4mos. They have all bonded so well. Oh by the way we are retired so we made a choice to have more yorkies love more yorkies. Of course meeting their needs also!!! |
It's a little more work going from 1 to 2, but nothing bad. I love having two and my girls keep each other company! |
Thanks all for your help I read every post just now again, and enjoyed all the stories! We are really worried if we get a " bad " yorkie, compared to Chester. He's alittle over 5 months old, just about completely house trained. And is really just so loving and perfect for us We're concerned we may not get so lucky with the second Any suggestions ? Also, I love the look of the Beweir's , but from what I been reading, they seem alittle hyper My wife works at night, sleeps 3 days. Out of the week. The rest of the week she's off during the day. I work full time, and am very busy on the weekend, scuba diving, fishing, etc. So we want to make sure they get still get the attention they deserve as well I think we may try it, I'm more for two of them more then my wife, she's thinking it's defiantly going to be busy |
Also we have a male, is to better to get 2 males, or get a female, I was thinking of getting a female , ( they would be netured ) |

Yes, were in our mid 40's, and enjoying life. We stay plenty busy, between work, and other hobbies. But we always been making time for Chester. I sleep with him 3 night+ a week, and we play with him when ever he's up. We been watching very little TV because we want to give Chester our full attention. He is just starting to slow down alittle over 5 months old. He now relaxes on my lap when I do watch TV when he starts to get tired We are very busy on the weekends, we have a boat, camper, I do allot of scuba diving ( my screen name is FLtekdiver ), plus I have a 180 gallon salt water tank, a 60 gallon salt water tank, and a 14+ year old cat in the house We have a 30' camper, and every 2-3 months we take the camper away. That's one concern, now we'll have 2 dogs in a camper for a few days. ( I seen that allot of camp grounds ) Other concern is, we still have a 14+ year old cat, which we been keeping separate from Chester, that's been a chore in it's self I think getting a female, will keep Chester more company. But reality is, my wife does work nights 3 nights a week, and sleep during the day the next day. She gets up few times during the day to let Chester out, and spend a few min, but it's rough working a 12 hour shift all night, then coming home and dealing with puppies It hasn't been easy with Chester. In the begging we were both only getting a few hours sleep a night Now he's much better at 5-1/2 months old |
We have a 10 year old weenie dog....she has been a great teacher for Winnie. They spoon in Chloe's bed constantly....Chloe was lost without her daughter so I think it was good for both of them :-) you could always look into rescuing! |
Thanks, I do check the Florida Rescue from time to time Were weighing in all our options, and doing lot's of reading on the subject |
I have an almost two year old Maltese and my eight month old Yorkie. I don't think my Yorkie would be too happy being the only pup. She is VERY energetic. If you do get another pup, make sure the ages are about the same because yorkies love to play all the time and a laid back pup would probably be annoyed. |
For some reason, I keep going back to Biewer pups, they seem pricey |
When I got Bailey six urs ago I had a female yorkie. She was four when I got him and they were the best of friends. She passed a few years ago and he has been our one and only since. I think a year or two is a good time. Having one trained before you start over makes sense. But having two also means you lose them a little bit to each other. You have time so think about it awhile. Good luck. I love my Biewer he is a real gentle spirit. Mommy's boy, very sweet. He follows me every where, my shadow. |
Thanks! Can you post a pic of your Biewer? Are they prone to any health issues being their cross breed? I'm thinking it's alittle soon also. Chester is humping everything right now at 5-1/2 months old, lol He still has a Letpo shot, then rabies which will be around Thanksgiving So it's not going to be until he's around 8 months old before we can spay/neuter him It will need to be after that for sure. All though I'd love to see them grow up together, more then likely it will be alittle more time before we get the 2nd one, at least a few more months I really narrowed it down to either another Yorkie, ( female ) or a Briewer, but I need to do more research on them |
3 Attachment(s) Just an update, we ended up picking up Waldo last Friday, and 11 month old Biewer Male. His personality is so sweet and loving, and him and Chester, who is now around the same age, get along wonderful. Were so glad we picked up Waldo, as him and Chester are in-seperatable. They really love each other, and do everything together. We are so blessed to have such wonderful people such as ( Teri ) here on YT, Sandi, and Liza for all making Waldo find the loving home that he has now. |
OHHHHHHHHHHH I love how sweet this is!!!! |
1 Attachment(s) Yes they are to cute. We had to buy bigger beds and put them around the house, for them both to share. Here's a pic of the smaller bed I had before we got Waldo, their both sharing it , lol |
