should I cut honeys hair 1 Attachment(s) So my baby girl is almost a yr old and her hair is getting long. It doesn't matt much but sometimes it tangles. I brush her 2-3× a day. Should I let her hair grow out for the winter or cut it. I attached a picture hopefully you guys can see (I cropped it so darn much) |
Sense dogs have hair and not fur and no undercoat there hair might help keep them a little warm but isn't going to help a whole lot. You probably will have to get a jacket or few sweaters so the hair length is up to you. |

I just love the traditional long haired yorkie. I vote, if she grows good coat, to let it grow! My last yorkie, Chelsea, grew coat very quickly. I had to trim it to keep it off the floor. ZoE is the opposite. While her coat is very silky and doesn't tangle much, it is extremely slow growing and breaks off fairly easily. After three years of trying to grow a full coat, and only ever getting to the messy middle length stage, I gave up and shaved her! It happens to suit her well as she's a well-toned pup and it shows off her fit bod. She also looks better in clothes as she no longer has stringy hair hanging down under a cute outfit. But I still look longingly at a shiny floor length coat. |

I do get mine groomed in the winter but not as often as the summer months and it allows me to experience a short coat in the summer and longer coat in the winter. Its all good in the summer its short coat and naked. In the winter its longer coat and outfits and topknots. You get the best of both worlds |

I love the long coat but it is your preference. If you want a puppy cut bring pictures with you of exactly what you want. So that the groomer knows. Also ask around to see how the groomer is |

I like her long hair especially for winter. |
New Haircut Liberty had long hair, to the floor, that is until last week. On Saturday, I heard him coughing and rubbing on the floor. I didn't seen an irritant and he stopped for while. Well, not but a short time later, he became extremely distressed. I picked him up and noticed that his "mustache" hair on one side had gone all the way down his throat!!! I quickly pulled and out came the longest bunch of hair!!! So scary. Started thinking, what would have happened to him if I wasn't around? That Sunday, I found a place that would let me supervise a cut (yep, a Sunday). It is short on face, with enough on top for a top knot and body is 1/2 way to floor. Ears are long, makes him look like Gizmo, and enough to show he is capable of producing beautiful hair. Now I don't have to worry (at least about that) LOL. Glad I did it!!! Will post a pic next week. |

1 Attachment(s) There's this type of haircut (which was referred to as the "Korean" styled cut or Asian Fusion) I want to get my girl to get into eventually when she's older. I think this one is the perfect haircut, cause the body hair is kept short for the most part, the beard is trimmed close (so not as much mess when eat/drinking) and yet the hair on the head/ears & maybe even tail/legs are left long. |
Great Cut Quote:
That's a great cut! Have never seen that combo before. That shows off the long hair very nicely - and - sort around the muzzle so --- no choking. Not to far from Liberty's new cut. Think we will actually aim for this!!!!!! Thanks. |
2 Attachment(s) No prob :3 I fell in love with this type of cut because not only does it allow you to have that long haired look, it's easier to manage and clothing/harnesses should be less of an issue since the most of the area it comes in contact with on the body is short. It also enhances the eyes, making them more doll-like. Here's a couple more examples of the same/similar cut so you can see the body better and how it works with clothing. |

Love this cut thanks hun |
I think long silk hair is beautiful and many people work hard to get that look. So you are lucky you can go either way. From your description your little girl has a good silk coat. If it is a problem for you to maintain I would agree try the change. But If not then I say HAIR HAIR LONG BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!:D:D |

Such a pretty girl. I would let it grow but then again I am partial to the long coat. I am doing the same thing with my little boy! At 4 mths old I had him buzzed cut and now I'm letting it grow out. I too brush him constantly but he doesn't mind now. He just lays there and falls asleep but he does let me know when enough is enough lol. Best of luck! |
I hand trim my Biewer with scissors. I just cut the hair and layer it like you smwould human hair. It keeps the ends from getting frayed and he looks better than being shaved. Leave the feathers longer and trim just the top layers, face, legs. It looks like a grown out puppy cut. |
