UTI vs Marking??? Hey guys! So Lexi has been being a bit odd on her potty trips. We haven't noticed anything off in regards to her eating, drinking, energy, playtimes, etc. but when she goes outside she seems to take multiple pees where she drips only a couple drops after having an initial normal pee. She has recently been given run of the yard as she can do the stairs by herself now and will ring a bell to go out. She's also about three and a half months old. I was thinking that this freedom and age has lead her to want to mark the yard? But I'm also concerned of a possible uti. She had one day last week that was a huge black mark on housetraining >.< I think she had 3-4 accidents, but the other days have been typical with her usually amount of accidents (0-1). I haven't noticed any blood or rancid smell in her pee. What do you guys think? |
She could just be marking the yard and it's normal for a still-young dog who has been doing well with housetraining to regress as they begin to think independently, their world enlarges and they are aware of so many more things going on in life besides just the need to eat, sleep, play and eliminate; and they before they transfer that early training from the intense concentration of when and where they should potty as overseen constantly by you and the housebreaking training starts to become rote-type behavior permanently so ingrained in their brain and muscle memory that they just hold it and then go when and where they are trained to without thinking. I'd probably call my vet and ask what other signs to look for to indicate a possible UTI and just ask if he should see her. |
Ya I called the vet and she said it didn't really sound all the normal >.< so were going to take her to get checked. I've had UTIs in the past and they are painful things. |
