New to YT. My interest is in. Morkies and finding the discussions here have been so helpful. I recently lost my Maltese and am trying to decide on my next companion. Although I love Yorkies, the Morkie gives me back a bit of what I loved in my Maltese. So now that I have decided on the breed, I next need to decide on a color and find a reputable breeder without outrageous prices. I am hoping this outlet will help me out with this search for the next love of my life. I live in Kentucky. I hope to hear from Morkie owners to know for certain if this is for me. ;) |
Welcome to YT. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! My little Cookie is a Morkie! She looks like a Maltese other than her spots that she gets from her Parti Yorkie dad. She has the personality of the yorkie though! Playful hyper and more playful Lol, but it really depends on the dog. I bet there will be other people that have better advice for you! |
1 Attachment(s) Welcome to YT...I'm not a Morkie owner but I do have a Yorkie & a Maltese. |

Welcome to yt. I am so sorry for your loss. The best place to look is a shelter or rescue. Reputable breeders don't breed mixes. That is one of the reasons your finding them to be very expensive. They are being called designer dogs and are having there prices jacked up because of that. Rescuing is a great thing though if you are really wanting a mix. |
Shelter woes I considered a shelter search but it is most important that I know the entire history of my next family addition. I will only buy from a breeder where I can see that their pups have been home raised and cared for and also see one or both of the parents. My Lil Sophie that I had to put to sleep last month had a lot of physical problems. In investigating her background, I am quite certain she was a victim of a puppy mill. I never want to encounter the heartbreaking consequences by chancing another uncertain puppy history. Although I am still grieving my loss, I want to take time to find the "right" breeder in my selection and not rush into just any available puppy. |

I rescued Annie and found her on "Adopt-A-Pet" website. She was 4.5 months old. All the rescue organizations post their dogs there. You might want to check the site out. You can put in breed, M/F, age, location, distance you are willing to travel, etc. You can often find mixed breed puppies there. After you list your preferences, they will email you as new dogs become available. It took me 6 months to find her, but Annie is absolutely wonderful !!! Good luck in your search. |
Just wanted to welcome you to YT :)! |
