Question about post op behavior Hello. Logan was neutered today and had his rear dew claws removed. He stayed for observation all day and we just picked him up a bit ago. My question is for anyone who has had these procedures done (both or either one) ... How did ur pup act after ? He's kind of lethargic and seems really doped up on meds. Kind of making little grumbly sounds like he's breathing funny. I'm not sure if he is in pain or just doped up from the pain meds he got after surgery. He's 9 months old. I'm just very concerned because I'm not sure if this is something that's normal or not. Any input will help thanks !! |
His behavior is very normal postoperatively. The anesthesia is still working its way out of his body and he is slowly recovering. When I had both my boys neutered they also had their dew claws removed. Give him a day or so and he'll be back to his normal playful self. |

Yes. Id give the Tramodol for pain. It was given for pain and is appropriate aftercare. |
Just an update, Logan is MUCH more himself today. After giving him the pain medicine he quickly bounced back to his fun loving self. I believe it was a combination of the anesthesia still wearing off, and the pain setting in =( poor little guy. But at least he was now all fixed and his dangling double dew claws are gone so his feets are safe! |
Great! Glad his is feeling better. :) |
