teeth cleaning today Ok so my baby is 2 and a half. After last vet visit he suggested a teeth cleaning due to some tarter buildup. So today i picked him up, paid a $500 bill and since he has been home he has not peed or eat and wont even drink water. The nurse did warn me about him not being himself due to the anesthesia. So he has been home now for about 5 hours and Im getting a little nervous. Ive never seen him so whiny as if he is in pain. He doesn't want nobody near him and hasn't left being underneath the couch. My heart is breaking and im wondering if i should of done this in the first place. Has anybody have any advice on what to look for and how long is he going to be like this?? im worried:( |

thank you for responding. thank god he had no teeth pulling but vet says he has a pocket that needs to be watched.. Its going to be a rough night with him whimpering ....why dont they send them home with some pain meds? |

They can whimper due to coming out of the anesthesia. I'd get him out from under the couch, wrap him in a blanket and hold him for a bit... make sure he's warm and not chilly. Try a gentle massage to help get his circulation going. |
My Maltese Polo just had this done about three weeks ago. Pathway first day they are sooooo not the same. Gums are sore so they probably want eat, which is what the vet told me when I left. Just make sure u keep water out and tomorrow he should be back to himself. |
I hope he is feeling much better today. It is really tough after a dental more so when they have multiple teeth pulled. hopefully he will be back to himself today. If he is still not eating and drinking you may want to check in with your vet just to be safe. |
Just to update, he is back to himself today!! Im so grateful...I will think twice about anesthesia next time....:D |
