Winnie gave her a run for the money she fast to be soo little she tired out now LOL whew never gonna let go on her leash again |
This is called "lesson learned from experience" now you know, no matter how well trained your dog may be, never, never drop the leash or take pup out without it's leash. So happy lil Winnie didn't get hurt. |

A lesson earned and I am so glad both you and Winnie are okay. |
Glad it all turned out ok. This is one reason I quit taking my Joey for walks. I started seeing and hearing more dogs out and some I heard barking. I just got plain petrified that one might come after us so we don't go out anymore. |

I'm glad Winnie is ok. My aunt thought her dog wouldn't go off her property until one day he chased a squirrel and got run over by a truck. He survived for a few months but he had seizures and some other problems. |
When I lived in NY in an apt. I had 3 dogs, at 10pm I would take them curb side for their last pee pee of the night. I knew there was an elderly man that walked his German Shepard in the street about the same time I let the dogs out. Because it was "just a curb side" pee pee I never put a leash on them, and I always looked through the storm door glass window before I opened the door to let my 3 Indians out. There were about 10 steps to get down to the sidewalk, my pups NEVER went into the street, always did their last pee pee on the grass (weeds) along the curb. One night I let the Indians out, they went flying down the stairs, one of them went into the street, just as I got to the curb I saw the elderly man with the German Shepard and my pup was UNDER the Shepard on her back. My heart stopped beating, I thought this Shepard was going to ripped open her throat. When I went to get her from under this dog I was shaken so bad, all I could do was pick her up, checked for blood, then ran up stairs with my pack. Never again did I ever take them babies out at night without a leash. My girls loved all dogs, big and small, thank GOD this Shepard was a good natured dog. For weeks I kept my eyes open for this elderly man, I needed to apologize to him, he must have been scared by this lil munchkin running out in the dark street the way she did (she was pure black yorkie with auburn face and legs very hard to see in the dark) and wanted to thank him for having such a wonderful, well trained dog for it not to have gotten startled and could have killed my lil girl. I finally saw him and thanked, and apologized to him. What a lesson I leaned and so did the lil munchkin, that poor lil girl was in shock, that was the first time she was soooo close to a BIG dog lol. So I know how your heart had to stop beating when you saw this dog running for your lil Winnie. I thanked St. Francis every night of her life for protecting her that night. |
thanks for sharing I'm so glad it was small dog and not a pitt bull she knows for now on when we go outside its on leash even if it is to potty. |
my guy was a found dog so he ran from somewhere. The vet that we first brought him to said he could have been walking/running all night he may have chased (or been chased) after and then got lost. He said even little dogs like him (he was about 7 lbs) could cover ten or fifteen miles or more over night. And yes it is tempting to let them off leash. I live by a beach part of the year and was always tempted to let him run free because how he LOVED to run. I even spoke to a dog trainer about this and she said terriers hunt and they run and their instinct overrides their training sometimes. So a leash. Always. |
glad everything turned out ok. |
