Yorkies are dangerous...
 
3 weeks ago I was playing with Tink, chasing her then running away (2 steps towards her, 2 steps back). In the house, so no fast action or anything. Well, my shoe snagged the floor and down I went, and really banged my knee on the hardwood floor. I went down sooo fast and hard, my body hurt from the jolt of stopping. My knee didn't bruise and only swelled slightly. Yesterday it was numb, and before that it only hurt when touched (or jumped on), and now today it's feeling pretty good. I was seriously considering going to the doctor about it, but now there's no need, TG.


So just a head's up... if you're getting old like me... mind how you play!

Glad to hear that your knee is feeling better. I have done that only out in the back yard. What is really funny is the look on GiGi's face while I am laying on the ground.... Got to love them. :)

I agree that it can be dangerous being around yorkies just doing daily routines. First you have to learn to do the yorkie shuffle. Sometimes no matter how careful we are they end up getting right under your feet. Then next hazard is gates and x-pens. I know many a yorkie owner that has been hurt climbing over a gate or an x-pen. I have had a fall myself and so has my husband climbing over a x-pen or gate. The next hazard is the ooops puddle that some yorkies leaving occasionally right in the middle of the floor. If you have tile floors and step in one of these puddles you can go flying. I am glad you were okay.

Glad your knee is feeling better and your right. I have 4 of the little stinkers and I can't tell you how many times I've about landed on my face trying to avoid stepping on one of them. ;)

I'm so glad you are okay. I have fallen many times from wet tile from water bowls and even water bottles, and because I'm only 5'2" on a stretch, I have fallen many times from gates. Just this past April I got my foot stuck on a gate while my dear friend Jackie was staying with us for a few days with her three Yorkies, and I wasn't sure if my shoulder was going to heal after falling face down on my ceramic floor. It took a long time, but I am fully recovered. I don't use gates normally, and I hope next time she visits I will be smarter, but being surrounded by Yorkies I love and seeing Jackie was worth anyway. Katie got to spend time with the person who traveled so far to get her for me, and she followed her around the first time and just adores Jackie now.

Please take care of yourself and be well but also have fun playing with your beautiful babies.

Ouch I hope your knee is ok.

I currently have a 4" cut on my leg because Lola was standing on it and slipped.

My worst puppy related injury was from the baby gate. I didn't lift my leg high enough and I fell into it, I had a huge bruise on my shin and my whole body was sore from the way I moved. Luckily I had my hand around a sturdy shelving thing so I didn't totally fall. The worst part was I had Lola in my arm, she didn't get hurt.

ugh, I know this feeling. With my past yorkie girl, she pee'd all over the place and I slipped on it 3 times within 2 months and my left knee wound up being pretty messed up for a long while. Now that I got a new baby girl, gotta make myself walk more carefully. And not trip over her ><; (had about kicked her when just walking somewhat fast-like, I about freaked out X_x)

Ouch! Watch yourself - playing with these little guys it is so easy to get carried away and go all out - I know all too well! Tibbe and I just had a chase session at this late hour rather than my going to bed on time and now I'm kind of revved up from all the rushing all around through the house chasing him as he first baited me and then played keep-away with his chewie. He loves to play chase more than anything!

Oh no! So glad your knee is not hurting anymore...I've tripped over ex-pens b4, so scary. Now whenever I go over one, they all retreat loll!

Thanks. I was in so much pain I didn't see Tink's face, I think she ran off when I went down. I do know she didn't bug me to play with her for 3 whole days afterward, which is totally not the norm for her!

Thanks... OMG I didn't post when I hit a puddle. I had just woke up, skipped putting on my shoes, walked quickly into the living room, hit the puddle and one leg went one way and the other the other way. My butt got wet too, then as I was getting up, my legs splayed again! That was a painful week too! Lol!

I have 3 dogs and 3 cats. The 22 pound cat almost took me out when he ran between my legs as I was trying to walk. I didn't hear or see him coming, racing to get to the feed bowl, lol. (He was racing, not me). Thanks!

Oh, dear! I hope that knee recovers OK. Gracie loves that kind of play since she likes to think of herself as the fastest dog on earth. I leave most of that kind of messing around to the younger ones these days. My joints give me enough problems as it is!:)

Thank you! Aw! That sounds painful... glad you're okay. I'm on the short side two so can totally relate. I did find a gate that's a bit lower, but I tend to move them now instead of trying to hurdle them.

Oh dear! I've walk-kicked mine before... now I walk slowly! The look I got though from them.... WTH???? Lol!

Thanks... I really thought I was being careful too, Lol! Surprise! Maybe I need to start wearing knee pads...and a helmet, lol!

So glad you are doing better. I too have fallen over mine, (DH says its age lol) Bless their hearts they always look so pitiful if they think they have hurt Mommy.

Yes, Yorkies can be dangerous. Not only can they suck you in and break your heart, they can break your body if you're not careful :confused::eek: well maybe even IF you are careful!

So glad to hear that your knee is feeling better. Please be mindful of any aches and pains that occur in that knee in the near future and have them checked out. You never know what's going on inside without proper medical testing.

If this had been a Yorkie with a knee booboo and you didn't rush to the vet for medical treatment, you would have been roasted, toasted and thrown out to the dogs. SO... please take care of yourself!!! Your furbutts need you in good health.
