Bath Time - How often? How often do you give your Yorkie a bath? I've heard to bathe no more then once a month and even then only if she's dirty...I've had Brady for a couple months and she's only had one bath. She doesn't smell at all and she's clean as a whistle. |
When we first got Stomper, we gave him a bath way too much!!! Weekly...since he was doing #2 on himself. That is not good from what I understand. It will dry out the yorkie's skin. My vet said once a month. I think it is Ok to do it every 3 weeks. That is what we are going to do. Stomper is outside a lot, so he starts to smell like a dog at about 3 weeks! Good luck! |
We bathe our girls just about every week...they have no skin or coat issues...we just make sure to use a good conditioner...if we don't bathe them they start to smell really gross, because they love to roll around outside in the grass...we have never had any problems with them... |
Great, I think Brady doesn't smell because she doesn't go outside that much - we're in Ottawa and it's damn cold here right now! Any recommendations on products to use? |
I take Mason outside about 3x/week and I still bathe him every week. I may be slightly obsessed, especially because Mason sleeps with me in my bed and my bed is white, from my sheets to my duvet cover! So I don't tolerate any dirt on my bed.....and I have not noticed any dry skin or coat. |
Well I've had Bailey for a week now and he's had one bath. He goes outside four - five times a day though and is out there playing with our other dog. So he's a dirty little guy. I'm still trying to find the right shampoo (his first bath I used J & J Baby Shampoo, as my breeder told me to) but unless he starts having dry skin issues, I think I'll continue bathing him weekly. We bathe our other dog weekly as well. They both live inside, so it helps to have clean dogs. |
Esme gets a bath every Sunday. She spends most of the week indoors and Sunday is her day out on the town. We take her to petsmart, the park, and anywhere else my husband and I go. Then Sunday night, she gets her bath. I find the even though she is indoors all the time, she still gets a little stinky. We don't sleep with her in our bed, but we do a lot of cuddling with her after we are in our pj's so we want her to be clean. |
My two get baths once a week as well. No skin or coat problems at all, I just like them to smell fresh all the time :D |
