Dribble Problem I have a yorkie poo and he's going to be 3 months soon. I'm having this terrible issue with him dripping everywhere after he pees on his pee pad. It's really gross to find a trail of pee on the floor and then watch him step in it. There's quite a lot of fury on his boy bits and that's why the urine is collectng on him and dripping off. Should I snip the extra hairs off? |
That would definitely help. Just be careful when you're doing it so you won't accidentally snip something you shouldn't.. Maybe have someone help you. |
Have you talked to the vet about your concern? I think you should have him a call to see if it might be something medically wrong as well. The hair that grows off sometimes if called a (kinda gross) pee string and my boys all have a little hair left. |
If the pup is only 3 months old, I'm guessing he haven't been groom yet.. But would he have long enough hair there for it to become pee string?... Actually... have you taken him to the vet yet for vaccines and stuff? If not, you should definitely get him checked out like Megansmomma suggested... |
The hair down there should be shaved but with a pee string left on it. Ask the groomer for a sanitary cut |

I had a small male and he was paper trained, I think he had a little strand there but not much else and was not that furry, but he always dribbled. Not enough that I thought he had a urinary problem just a little dribble. It drove me nuts because after he went in his littler box on the papers he would exit and there was always something left on the area just outside the box. I put a rubber made mat just outside the box to cath the dribble and protect my wood floor and I was always wiping it up with some type of spray but I have to say it drove me nuts, enough so that I choose a girl the next time. There was thread on here about a year ago talking about this and most people that had males had bit of the same complaint. |

Below is a link for example of a pee string. http://www.hollyhuxford.com/images/P...ng/7591Web.jpg As for taking him to the groomers, I'd like to suggest you give him his favorite snack before going in and then another when you pick him up. This way, he can associate getting groomed with something good. :) |
Update: I asked the vet about the dribble problem but he said that he's just a puppy and gets impatient after peeing so he kind of drips and walks away as he's finishing. The vet didn't seem too concerned about the issue. As for the pee string, it looks like that is what he has. Too bad by boyfriend took him to the groomers and when he got him back, they had snipped it shorter. I don't know if that's going to be bad for him or an issue... he still dribbles, perhaps a bit less though. Still bothersome. Will his pee string grown back? |

My girl has a pee string that I was almost tempted to trim down, but had to keep reminding myself that it does help direct the pee. Her issue would be if she walks through it, which is when she has a large amount. Thankfully, she doesn't have the dribble issue ^^; but she does pee alot -_-; Might get yourself one of those male diapers (the ones that are waist straps), to help with dribbles or control the amount of pee that hits the floor. |
