Doggie Daycare Is there anyone out there that has ever taken their put to a doggie daycare to play? If so what are your experiences?...good or bad |
I haven't but just wanted to share something. Some places mix all the dogs together so I would try to find one that splits them up by sizes and does temperament testing. I have nothing against bigger dogs and my yorkie loves them but they can hurt smaller dogs even just on accident. I would also tour the places and maybe try to find reviews. |
I haven't yet for my little baby but I am hoping and looking forward to taking her to play dates/classes/etc. at petsmart for her to play and socialize :D I can't right now cause I need to get her vaccines all finished etc. But I'm hoping it'll go well, myself. Gonna continue to mother hen her a bit till she learns proper socializing :D Wouldn't mind hearing other folk's experiences as well :3 |
1 Attachment(s) Waffles has been going to daycare once a week for almost a year now - he loves it and we love it. :) The daycare he goes to does mix the dogs, but they are not all together at the same time, there are several different areas. They do temperament testing, and they do not allow drop ins, plus you are expected to come at least once a week on the same day so the doggies make friends. We even get a little report card with the names of the dogs he played with each week. Here's Waffles on his first day of daycare. |
Well I did come across one that the does has to have their shots up to date and the separate the small dogs from the big dogs. They had indoor and out door play areas with games and pools. You would think it was for kids. And they will even give your misogyny a bath for $10 extra. |
I take them to doggy daycare whenever needed. I'd like to suggest you read any reviews available. Pay more attention to the negative ones and see if it might be something you'd have an issue with. Sometimes, the reviewer can be bit overly sensitive. The place I take them to requires you have all the shots updated and will do a "interview". Unless there's some aggression issue (or something like it), they'll place the dog according to their temperment. There's always someone in the room to watch over them. Few things I really like about this particular daycare is that they have live webcam where you can watch whenever you want to check on them. (Except for 12-2. It's their nap time) They also have "birthday parties" every month where they provide some goodies for the dogs, take pictures and posts them on their website for you to look at. It's bit more expensive then some of the other daycares I've looked at but I feel it's worth the money. Good luck on your search! |
I've taken mine to a few different ones. A good daycare will let you drop by and inspect anytime. I like the ones that have indoor and outdoor areas incase it gets hot/cold. They seem to really enjoy going. |

I used to take my doggy day care -she absolutely loved it and we did too! My doggy daycare separated dogs by size and temperament. I just moved so I need to find a new one ASAP - she is super hyper and bored now... |
Nala has been going to Doggy Daycare about once a week for a few years now. The daycare is 1/2 mile from my home and we have known the owners for years. They are separated by size and temperament and require proof of vaccinations and remind you 30 days before vaccinations are due. They have plenty of staff and they don't have much turnover in staff. I saw an application for employment and it has very specific questions about how you would deal with certain situations and there is a note telling them what to expect. I was impressed with the screening for employment as well as screening for dogs. Nala gets so excited when we get there and the girls seem excited to see her as well. She smells like perfume sometimes when I pick her up... I think she gets cuddled during nap time. :D It is nice to be able to take her there if we are having any work done at our home that would require someone going in and out or she can go for a couple of hours if we are having family gatherings..... Nala doesn't care for my nieces and nephew. She goes there while we are on vacation and is in the daycare part during the day. They will give her a bath the day we return so she smells good. We love it and know she is having her own little vacation while we are away... The staff tells me she really does enjoy getting to be a doggy. |

That sounds nice. I especially love the birthday parties. |
I wonder do any of the doggie daycares have had a problem with dogs mating. Do they require the dots to be spayed/neutered or do they just trust people when they say their dog is not in heat. |
