Hubby took over this morning while I got a few hours of sleep. I'm so glad I slept downstairs because Gizmo woke several times in bad pain looking scared to death and would not cry, which reinforces my theory he was also physically abused as a pup, so I stayed awake watching him. It's been really hard to give his medicine for pain to him as he fights us tooth and nail :-( I don't think he likes the peanut butter flavoring they put in it, or he's actually tasting the med irregardless of the added flavoring. What scares me is he starts kicking with his legs to stop us from putting the syringe in his mouth, and he's making his leg hurt worse.

I keep telling my husband to keep him in his pen so he rests, but my husband feels bad and keeps taking him out, and of course then Gizmo thinks he can go running around making his leg worse :-(

Does anyone know of pet insurance that covers pre existing conditions ? I have a bad feeling that he's going to need surgery on that back left leg soon. When I read the vets paperwork, from what they wrote, it seems his LP has gotten worse because it now says is medial LP where before it was mild stage one.

He's like a child to me and it's breaking my heart watching him in pain. The worse part for me I think is the look of fear in his eyes when his pain flares up, and he looks like he's afraid to cry. The reason I believe he's afraid to cry is that when we rescued him, every time my husband would pet him he would yelp really loud even though it was just soft pets, it was like it was out of fear from men. He never did this with females, only men. So I think when he was a baby some man was hitting him, and now he is just to afraid to cry, for fear of being hit or something. It just goes to show, abuse stays with them forever and it breaks my heart so badly, no animal should ever be afraid of a human that way :-(

I just keep praying his pain Lets us soon, and he won't need surgery anytime soon. At this point he can't put any pressure on his leg at all, poor little guy xoxo

Please let me know if anyone knows a good insurance that covers pre existing conditions, thank you all again so much for your love and support for my animal and human family XOXO

Poor little guy. Maybe try wrapping him tight in a towel when giving him his medicine and maybe he can't kick. Could you put his pen by the bed so both of you could sleep? Sadly there are no pet insurances at this time that cover pre existing conditions. I wish they did because Callie just had to have her second knee done.

So it's like my husband is trying to Sabotage me !!!! While gizmo is sitting in his pen saying ARGGG ARGGGG begging to come out giving my his little magic eye look, my husband is calling me from work begging me to "just let him out for a few minutes", ughhhh I am so conflicted, I know he needs to stay in there to get better and my husband is letting his guilt get to him, and they are both making me feel so bad. How do you all handle this type of situation :-(

Oh my lord, now he's switching between growling at me and crying :-( how am I supposed to resist his tactics ? I even gave him a full pumpkin teething ring to try to keep him busy, which he usually will ignore you when he has one, and even that he just hid in his sleep sack and came back to the side to focus on how he can con me into opening the door :-( I wish my husband would hurry up and get off work :-( I wish he wasn't so dang cute too because that is not helping me at all !!!!!!!! It's gonna be a long day lol

I'm sorry to hear poor Gizmo is having such a tough time (as well as you and hubby). I like Taylor's idea of wrapping him before medication. For letting him out, how about a sling where you could carry him with you as you move about the house?

I try to have him snuggle with me but he gets very squirmy and just thinks he can play. He did this yesterday and made his leg worse again :-( now my neighbor just knocked on my door, even though I asked them not to due to Gizmos injury, and he knocked anyway, and gizmo jumped all over barking ughhh. Now he's back to not being able to stand on it at all again because of him getting so excited.

I just put a note on my door to make sure no one else knocks, but he for sure now cannot come out at all, and I gave him his pain med too, which I was trying to avoid by keeping him calm and resting. We have one of those really annoying neighbors in our town home complex that just goes to everyone's house to gossip about the others, which I'm sure is why he came over here. I'm so annoyed now, because I sent everyone that lives in our complex (I'm on the HOA board) because I have all their email addresses and told them my dog was injured and to please email me or call, because Gizmo doesn't react to the phone, and this guy just totally ignored it. He's one of those neighbors who drives all the other neighbors crazy :-( lol and he\'s the only one without a pet come yo think of it lol.

I hope Giamo feels better soon, maybe try putting a sign on the outside of your front door asking your neighbors, to call first and not to knock. I truly am sorry that Gizmo got hurt, he deserves the easy life for all he\'s been through, and I still say you are a saint for what you have done with him.
