Dairy Question I have been doing reading trying to figure out the best yorkie diet for when our lil girl comes home and i have read that all dogs are lastose intolerant but yet i see people posteing about giving their babies dairy products is that ok? Also what would you say would the best all around diet? I want to keep our girl in tip top shape and healthy and and reading so many didfernet things gets a bit confusing. |
You are so right. There are so many products and foods it is hard to choose. I have 5 yorkies, lost one to pancreatitis. Never feed your baby people food. Carrots, boiled breast of chicken, white rice (no seasonings) is all fine. I use a combo of food. I mix ProPlan with Royal Canin both in puppy foods. You will get lots of opinions on this,I am sure. It is a matter of choice really. Good luck! |
I would like to know too. "All dogs are lactose intollerent"?? Can someone send a link that says this? |
You should never give them milk. It is ok for them to have an OCCASIONAL piece of cheese as a treat and also cottage cheese as a treat, again occasionally. |
I give yoqurt and cottage cheese sometimes. |
I will look for the place that said dogs are lactose intolerant it causes bad gas, but i will post it when i find it. Ok here it is i guess it don't say all dogs it just says dogs http://www.yorkieterrier.com/care_002.htm |
Most of the articles that I've looked up says that giving too many diary products can and does cause Pancrieitous.(sp) Little bits here and there shouldn't be too bad, but each dog varies. Some dogs have more sensitive stomachs the others. It's just a matter of getting to know what your dog can and can not handle. |
