Help Please!!!! I am a fairly new yorkie mom. I have Hailey since Novemeber. We finally decided we were going to have her spayed. I am now a nervous wreck. She does not go until March 22 and that is all i can think about. I worry there will be complications and i will lose her. She only weighs a little less than 5 pounds and she is seven months old. If maybe someone could tell me how there baby did i would feel a lot better. |
Does anyone have any advice? I just got some really bad news. A lady at work took her 8 month old pug puppy to get spayed today and it died on the table. Now i am really scared. |
Im not one for good "advice" But i can re-assure you that millions of puppies are spayed each year and come out of it fine. Our baby is only 5lbs now and was probobly neutered at about 2.5 lbs maybe? Im never good with the figures though. But needless to say he came out fine with no problems. Just give her lots of love, and im pretty sure she loves you more so that will help her through the surgery. Just keep it as stress free for her as possible. Im sure one of the more experienced people will post some better advice but i hope this helps you out, and keep us posted on how she does. |
We all get really scared and it does happen .. but really not often.. you don't hear about all the succesful ops that's all... we have two little girls ... had Gypsy Rose spayed last summer and yes I was worried... all was well and we now have 8 month old Gizzie Chavi (spaying in the UK usually is done after the 1st season so I have to go through this again!!).. All I can suggest is that you really do your homework regarding your vet and make sure they are used to dealing with small breeds and use a safe anaesthetic (sorry not sure of the name!) ..maybe you already have a vet you really trust?? Spaying and neuturing are very important too for our babies health... it's a hard decison but we all worry...!! This probably doesn't help at all.... !! Ana xx I face the same decision yet again too...!! Ana xx |
My Tina was spayed when she was 6 1/2 months old. I asked my vet to use Isoflurane on her (one of my friends advised me to ask the vet to use Isoflurane on Tina) and she (the vet) told me she always used Isoflurane on yorkies. It is more expensive but it is very safe. I was also told by my vet that yorkies might have their tracheas collapsed if intubated because their tracheas are tiny. |
