Essentials for bringing home puppy. I am bringing home my pup soon and thought this could be fun and informative for new owners of pups, or just anyone curious about favorite products. I would like anyone who is willing to do so to tell us your top three practical must-haves for bringing home pup (food and stuff like that are obvious, but if you feel strongly about a certain brand, you can put that on your list). Also, you may add a separate list of your top three additional or for fun must haves, in your humble opinion :) Thanks! |
Nutrical Stocked pet emergency/first aid kit Pee pads This is also a helpful thread for new parents: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...w-parents.html |
This from the YorkieTalk Library really about covers it all: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pup...w-parents.html #1 One of the most helpful important items to have was a small ex-pen, to keep the pup safe and confined until potty trained. This is the one I loved: ![]() #2 A pet carrier is essential to transport pup to vet, and to take them places. My first fav was a small Sherpa, but I quickly acquired many others. #3 Chewy toys so they don't chew on you and furniture etc. :D |

1) metal expen because they fold up flat so good for traveling. The short ones are nice for when they first come home (you can reach right in and pick pup up) but if you have a jumper/climber a taller one is better. 2) a waterproof flat mattress pad to protect carpet (if you have carpet). Set up a little room for pup with pad/expen/potty pads/bed toys etc. 3. the lil paws harness is my favorite, it actually fits when they are tiny and you can adjust as they grow. Have fun! |
Congrats on your baby!!!! :D :D You should start getting your pup familiar with brushing teeth so I would say to get any small sized baby toothbrush and also C.E.T vanilla mint toothpaste.. your pup will love it! Mine gets her teeth brushed every day before bed and she loves it, lol. Virbac Animal Health C.E.T. Enzymatic Toothpaste | Pet Toothpaste For grooming, I think the Chris Christensen wooden pin brush is great for brushing and detangling gently. Wood Pin Brushes for Pet Grooming, Show Dogs & Cats I have the small pink one and it's my favorite brush! I would also recommend the Espree plum perfect face wash and small baby face cloths for when your pups face needs a washing, lol. It smells great and washes out easily. |
1. Chew Toys 2. Wee Wee Pads 3. A Carrier! :D:D:D:D:D:D |
Puppy Bring Home Must Haves 1. Nutri Cal (Breeder gave me some for long trip home) 2. Brush (CC or Madan) 3. Crate for sleeping (with a pretty satin crate pad) Other: 1. Car Seat 2. Cloud 9 Bed 3. Stroller :D |

I would definitely get a mustache comb. It is great for the face and to train hair away from the eyes. toplinepet.com I had pieces of plexiglass cut to put in from the ballisturs of my stairs so my little ones could not fall through. |
1. Pee pads - I love the ones from T. Bumpkins 2. Choke free harness 3. Cloud 9 bed |
