Mad/Upset Yorkie? Zoey's always had bit of a temper unlike her brother. If she's mad, she'll let you know whether you're there or not. For example, if she little mad, she'll pee on the floor mat that's right in front of the kitchen sink. But if she's REALLY mad or upset, she'll poop on the certain spots on the carpet in the living room when no one is home. :( She KNOWS she's not supposed to and will hide once my parents or I find it and calls her. She won't even go near the area where she committed her crime. lol So my question is, do any of your furbies do anything to show how displeased they are with you other than those cute stink eye? Please share! |
I really dont believe they get angry or show emotions but I think since we do we project that on them |

In my experience dogs are quick to forgive, but they most certainly do take offense at times, like when I give Pippi a treat or pet Pippi before Caleb, he turns his back to me and give a little sob sound. We've had dogs all our lives and never had one like him.....but they've all have feelings, some are more subtle. When I won't share some human food, he gives me the stink eye. They feel, guilty, I know when they done something wrong, by their behaviour and face expressions, before it's been found what they've been up too. They feel love, happiness, sad, grumpy. It's sad that humans feel that a lot of animals don't feel emotions, they miss out on so much. I've never had a mammal that didn't have emotions to some degree. Pippi is in season, and her emotions have been all over the place, I swear that dog wanted chocolate and a trash novel. (ok a little projection there) She's been moody and huggy, and not quite so happy or active. |
Lol Oddsock- you took the words right out of my mouth!!!!!!! Holy crap, YES dogs have emotions! Their emotions are just as deep and far reaching as human emotions. It is absolutely ridiculous to even consider that they have no emotions of their own! |
I know 99.9 % of dog owners arent going to agree with me but Ive done some research on it thats led me to believe that. I think what we see as emotion is apeasment from the dog. How would they without understanding words know what angry is or how could they be angry and pee in an area if they were never taught it is just that simple to me |
I know studies say they don't understand words but then how do you explain that when we tell laddy to get a certain toy that is the toy he brings us. Or when we say yes you can go he gets excited and runs to the door but if we say you have to stay home he goes to his bed and pouts. Those are just a few of the things he does. Honestly I think he understands almost all we say to him but that is just my opinion on things. |
Really!?! Because they don't know words??? So if you are deaf and dumb you don't have emotions because you don't know the WORD for it!?! What about separation anxiety? And treatments/meds that work? Wait, they can't have anxiety, they don't know the word for it. *Shakes head* I hope you "project" lots of love on your place holders. A place holder is what a furbutt would be without emotion. Just a teddybear or something of that nature. |

My girls *adore* me. They get excited if I even call home. They get love and most certainty give love. What that I had said was not nice? It was just elaborating on what you said. If dogs didn't give love, why would anyone choose to go through teething, housebreaking and illnesses? From a strictly science pov. They have ALL the sensors in the brain that we do. Maybe seeing what you were saying in such a black and white way was upsetting to you because of how sad of a statement that they don't give or feel love! I honestly hope that you do feel the love from your little ones and that the statement wasn't as serious as it had sounded! :) Btw- the articles I posted are current and interesting. |
Our dog lets us know he's pissed. For an example, if the groomer is rough to him, our Max ignores us and even sits backwards facing rear traffic in the car all the way home. When we say "time out" he gets upset and starts barking at us and runs away. Although 8 months, he's a smart little guy. |

If it's minor Lola gives me the stink eye. If she's really offended she'll stand in front of me barking and growling, and if I try to touch her she'll gently bite at my fingers like DONT TOUCH ME!! She makes her moods known and understands almost everything I say. |
