2 year old boy is staining the TV stand. Need a useful advice! Please! Dear Fellow Yorkie Lovers, How should I deal with this situation? My otherwise well behaved little Cashmere is peeing on the TV stand during the workdays when no one is home. He has two "bathrooms" around the house that he routinely uses for his needs. It seems, he understands by now that he shouldn't be doing what he does. I tried a "bitter apple" spray before leaving for work, and always remove the stains with that special shampoo to kill the smell, etc. Is there any other option rather then locking him up for the whole day in the kitchen with linoleum floors? |
I would keep him away from that spot for a verrrry long time - so yes, I'd probably keep him confined in a smaller spot. Have you tried the enzyme cleaner yet? |

Agree with the others. It's hard when you have a boy and they decide to pick a spot other than their designated potty area. I had the same problem years ago with Dude. He was lifting his leg in my laundry room on a spot other than the pee pad. It was because he is as leg lifter and decided that peeing on the corner of my freezer would be the perfect spot to potty. But I've never thought it was a marking issue as much as an "I'm all boy and don't squat like Bogey and Pebbles " problem. Grrrrr..... I wanted him to potty on the pad but he wanted to use the chest freeze because he's a leg lifter. So I did a couple of things to adapt my freezer corner. First I lefts the freezer up off the floor about 4" with 2 wire shelves and attached the pee pad directly to the freezer with clip magnets. I use washable pee pads from 107Barnery and because they are the largest size she makes all three now use them because they are large enough to cover the floor. This idea though wouldn't work with disposable pads because they are not large enough. But I wasn't having an issue with a piece of furniture like you which is not good at all. |
:) Have you ever actually caught him in the act?!!? The reason I'm asking, is that Harry took a shine to the corner of my mother's washing machine when he was a baby....a few times of a sharp 'NO' mid-piddle - picked him up and took him outside to finish his business - and it hasn't been repeated ever since. He now kind of sidles past that corner, glaring at it....:D |
dog These Yorkies are dog gone smart! My JoJo knows he is not to pee on his crate but when I leave to go out there are times I lift that crate and there it is! Now I do a pee check when I come home. His tail goes outside and my voice becomes a little annoyed when I find that pee. He knows better. I really think Yorkies get that separation anxiety. JoJo does but that is no excuse. I hang a pee pad outside on the fence and he knows that is the spot. Just have to keep after him and oh the look I get when I chase him out the dog door! |
I had just ordered a "litter" box for doggies and it came with a sort of "pillar" for leg lifters, lol since I'm getting a girl it'll never get used ^^; Might look into something like that as there are things for male potty training. Or maybe get some kind of hydrant statue to place near the pads. |
