Puppy in pain makes me sad Can anyone hp me out? Brought my puppy in for Shots today and now she won't let us pick her up or pet her She yelps like she is in so much pain. The vet office is closed. I want to give her Infant benedryl but I don't know how much. Is this normal for her to be in so much pain? She wasn't like this with her first shot a couple weeks ago. She is 4 months old. It makes me sad just to see her lay there. |
Hi welcome to Yorkietalk. What shots did they give her? Some shots can make them sore for two days or so. I don't know if that much pain is normal though.. How much does she weigh? You mentioned she just lays there, is she lethargic? edit: I found this emergency vet in your area, here is the link: http://www.westmichiganaeh.com/location.html |
Shots They gave her her rabies shot and a distemperment booster. She isn't even 2.5 lbs yet. She isn't latharget. She did start getting up and waking around drinking and eating her good but still whimpers when we pick her up. I was going to give some benydryl for infants to her but I can't find it in liquid form with a dropper. Even if I did I don't know how much to give her. I just hate seeing her in pain. We are struggling with her being very aggressive and not sure how to get a handle on this. |
My vet has me give 1 cc of benedryl to Kyra for allergic reactions to shots she is barely 3lbs. Sending prayers your way. |
How is your baby today, any better? I would give some Benadryl...either in liquid or pill. I'd call your vet too...are they open today? |
Thank you for your advice. I will be trying that if I can find it in the liquid form. Lacey seems to be her little spitfire self right now. I will keep a close eye on her today. Any suggestions on how to get her to stop biting? I know she is only 4 months old but I need to try and get a handle on this quickly. |

Thank you. I will keep this on hand. Lacey seems to have returned to herself. I will be keeping a close eye on her today just to make sure. Now we just have to figure out how to her her to stop biting. |
I hope your little girl feels better. Rabies is an intramuscular vaccine, so it causes soreness. In the future, it's best to separate vaccines, so they are not given on the same day, particularly rabies. OTC Medications |
