Twitching shaking Yorkie Hi, I wondered if any one has encountered this problem. My 4 year old male yorkie shakes and twitches when awake. Not all the time but it seems to be getting slowly worse. He is well otherwise. Good appetite, eats well, plenty of energy etc. vet has never mentioned anything. He jumps a fair bit too when awake. Any ideas? I have googled etc but nothing seems to describe it. His head doesn't shake just legs. |
Welcome to YT> I read your post, and was not clear if the vet knew of the symptoms and declined to comment, or did not know of his symptoms, and just pronounces him well on his vet visits? But I will say constant or frequent twitching shaking is not normal. There could be a whole host of things that it could be, but without some diagnostics all we could do is just guess. I believe for me, I would make sure the vet knows of his symptons and also that they appear to be worsening, and then see what he or she advises. A referral to an appropriate specialist would not be out of line either. |
No I haven't mentioned it to the vet. I wasn't worried at first, just thought it was one of those things, but because it seems to be slowly happening more often I have been googling it. Seems perfectly fine otherwise. |
My advice still stands, that is I think you should mention this to your vet. Better to nip something early rather than late:) |
I agree with Gemy. Laddy was doing this and it was an absessed tooth. Since his dental no more shaking, which is a relief because I was worried it was mini seizures. |
It almost sounds like a seizure and you should make an appointment to visit your vet. |
Your vet needs to evaluate this. If you could take videos with your phone and show them to your vet it might help. |
