Oh no! Gizmo has a bump.... I found a little bump on Gizmo's left side be his rib cage. It feels like a little ballon and doesn't seem to hurt him when I move or squeeze it. :confused. :confused: Any ideas? We are going to the vet at 9. |
There are so many possibilities, from a follicular cyst to a bug bite. I wouldn't be alarmed, but I'm glad you are having the vet check it out. Let us know what the vet says. |
Possibly a cyst? My girl has/had a few of them. We had them removed when she went in for other things, like teeth cleaning and baby teeth removed. If it's a cyst, don't mess with it. They "wall" in, you don't want to release the junk/infection into your little ones body. Cysts don't go away unless you get the sac out of them. Squeezing them just makes them open to major infection. A Dr. Needs to remove it or let it be. |
It could be anything, but my first thought bc they're so common is a follicular cyst or sebaceous cyst...neither of which is a big deal at all :). Let us know what you find out at the vet, and hope it goes well! |

Oh I know that feeling, we had our old jack russell, Chloe, have a bump on her shoulder removed about a year or two back. Found it was cancerous but the vet was pretty confident that it wouldn't come back and that the type it was was pretty common in old dogs, but just to keep an eye on her just incase. She's been much better afterwards and is spritely :) but before hand it did seem to appear fairly quick (like we notice a smaller bump that got bigger in 1-2 months) and was causing her a little pain in the beginning (she got mad if we tried to touch it), it didn't seem like it hurt her around the 3rd month when we decided to get her surgery. The bump was also fairly firm. |
Vet said its a follicular cyst. I could leave it alone and monitor it, do something like a needle biopsy or remove it. I am going to have it removed when the vet comes back from vacation in 2 weeks. He has someone who will be covering for him, but I would feel better if he does it himself. Gizmo also has one baby tooth that hasn't fallen out so they will extract it at the same time. Thank you all for responding. It helps to know others have gone through this. :D |

They did a needle aspiration and sent that sample out (again nothing :rolleyes:) and the bump stayed but turned black. I figured it was the blood underneath that turned color when it dried. It stayed like that for months and months. I would check it daily to see if it was changing size or not. One day I went to check and it wasn't there! At first I thought I was checking the wrong foot. Nope! It just went and fell off by itself. So weird. |
I'm so glad to hear it might get smaller and possibly go away. I swear it seems smaller this morning. I told my bf and he said that was good but his face said I'm crazy. :D I love this site! |

thats great!! Mack has a little hernia on his belly. My vet is just keeping an eye on it as we are afraid to put him through any more surgeries! Im glad you had such a happy ending! |
