Laddy Had and Absessed Tooth:( The vet just called, they had to pull 3 front teeth and one back that was absessed :(. I feel so bad that we didn't catch this sooner. He has his dentals and it wasn't there a year ago. It makes you wonder how long he has suffered with it :(. He never showed signs of pain or such. I wish they could talk and tell us when they are hurting. It breaks my heart thinking he was suffering. |
Charlene, I know exactly how you feel. Jada had an abcess two dentals back. I had no clue either :( She lost 7 teeth that year. I bet Laddy acts a lot more playful and active that was the only thing I noticed with Jada after. She seemed to have more spunk. |
Poor guy hopefully he didn't have it to long. It would be nice if they could tell us whats going on with them. |
We just him up and he is so sad :(. Am a little worried because he isn't standing on his own yet and its been 5 hours. Have a call into the vet now. Waiting for her to call back. |
Awww, I know how you feel, once I took Mini to the vet for vacs and she had a high fever, I felt like an arse, so guilty....she didn't act the least bit ill till that moment! You do a good job, you probably caught it in time and that is a GOOD thing! I'm glad she is doing better, focus on that. |

Ugggh we posted at the same time, keep us posted, fingers crossed, prayer said....hang in there momma.. |
The vet called and said it was normal being he is so small and was under for so long. She will be on call if he doesn't improve. Appreciate the prayers Lynzy. |

Oh Gosh your nerves have to be on edge, don't worry your doing all the right things. |
They really are. it is breaking my heart seeing my hyper little man like this :(. |
So sorry Laddy had a rough dental, but on the good side at least it is taken care of now and he is better because of it. The whole ordeal is probably harder on you than him, and he will be back to normal in no time. It is always such a worry when our pups have vet procedures. My 3 are due for annual checkups and I'm pretty sure they will need dental cleaning, so I'll be going through this myself soon. Take care, snuggle him and I'm praying that everything is much better tomorrow. |
Bless your heart! Poor little Laddy.....these pups teeth are such a worrisome issue.....all the brushing, all the dentals, all the chew toys, all the effort we put into keeping these teeth in a decent shape where they dont abcess and where hopefully we dont have to have teeth pulled, and yet, sometimes, it seems as if it is all for naught. I just had a female have teeth pulled....this is the third dental where she has had to have teeth pulled....it is so pitiful....but you have certainly done what you can do to keep Laddys teeth and gums healthy.....just snuggle him and love on him....watch him if he is still super drowsy later this evening, I would give the vet a call for reassurance.....mine always get IV fluids with their surgeries to "tank them up" in preparation for perhaps 24 hours without eating or drinking....I would perhaps give him some water/pedialyte syringed into his mouth, every couple of hours or so....I always give mine baby food following dentals.....and I usually have to start by putting it in a syringe and giving it by mouth that way....I would call the vet tonight just for reassurance if I were you! That will make you feel better.....I sure wouldnt give him anything for pain until he is completely awake from that anesthesia.... |

Don't beat yourself up! Now you know he feels a lot better! |
These small babies get such a whollop from that anesthesia, especially if they are under a little on the longer side....I like to have them use Propofol to do my kiddo's teeth....they wake up from that immediately, as soon as it is stopped.....my anesthesiologists are perfectionist at dosing the Propofol....it is more expensive but I like the way they wake up......I have had some of mine down for 5-7 hours after I get them home when gas anesthesia is used....they throw off the Propofol immediately, as soon as they stop giving it....I love the stuff! |
Laddy will be feeling so much better and it is because you had him have his dental. Like others have said we can brush their teeth and we can't foresee the future. Hoping he will be back to his normal self quickly. Hugs to you and to Laddy! |
