How hard of a toy/bone do you let your yorkie chew on? I have a (toy) bone from pet smart that says it's for teething but it's pretty firm on the outside and a little flexible on the middle of it. All of Chloe's teeth fell out except 2 in the front.. she has both her adult and baby teeth there. I bought this to help with them to come out but are firm bones ok for them or will it cause fractures to the adult teeth? |
How old is Chloe now? Pebbles was spayed at 6 months and had a few retained puppy teeth. One was right in the front and was removed during her spay. It left a space between her front teeth which over the years has caused her to one by one to lose all her top front teeth. The vet told me at her 7 yr check up that because of the space it caused all her teeth to be loose in the front. The rest of her teeth are in great shape very minimal tartar or plaque and no dental is needed for her right now. My concern would be waiting too much longer for Chloe's spay and leaving a gap. Also, you are asking about teething toys but the issue with Chloe would not be teeth that she uses to chew. Dogs use their back teeth not front teeth where she still has those pesky baby teeth. |
I mean, honestly, anything *can* break a tooth. I've heard of a piece of kibble breaking a tooth before too. But, of course it's good to lower the chances. I personally am not comfortable with any RMB's (raw meaty bones), hooves, antlers, or himalayan chews, and some of the harder nylabone chews. |

I think Jackson's tooth got messed up by a retained baby tooth being in his mouth too long, wedged in with his permanent bottom canine tooth. I waited too long to get them removed. He ended up having 4 baby teeth retained that needed to be removed. Anyway, that bottom canine tooth was the one that needed to be shaved down/have surgery on at 3yrs old because it was turned in such a way that it was poking his gums. |
Chloe just turned 8 months. Is her losing baby teeth stage over or can she still lose the 2 front teeth? The baby teeth have been in there for about 3 weeks now with the 2 adult teeth in front of them. |

Callie broke her tooth on a bully stick so I only give ones about as hard as a denta stick. |
