How often is your yorkie in a top knot? I was just wondering since my yorkie has to be in a top knot now almost all the time - day and bedtime. I change the knot every morning but without a top knot her hair completely covers her eyes because it falls down. Is this how it is for everyone with show cut or do you layer the top knot hair so that your yorkie can see when the hair is down, too? I basically just want to make sure that her being in a top knot all the time is normal, lol. |
Oscar is never in a topknot . Not because I don't like but he because Oscar HATES it . I am sure he would look adorable with a topknot but HE'S the boss :D |
Same situation here. If hair is down, she can't see a thing. We do soft scrunchies during the week, often re-doing a couple of times a day since I keep them loose and they fall out. On weekends, if we plan to be out and about, I'll do a band and sometimes add a bow if we just feel like being prissy - wore one all day yesterday for Fathers Day. :) |
My boys wear them 24 hours a day, otherwise they would have hair in their mouths and eyes. I have to fix them a couple times of day. When they were younger and their hair was shorter, I took the topknots out at night and let them sleep without them. |
Ok, phew! I feel better now that it isn't only my yorkie that has to have a top knot in all the time except for when I change it. I was starting to think I'm being bad for not letting her head get a rest, lol. I don't tie the top knot tight though, I use the lainee bands they stay pretty much all day. I want to use scrunchies because it's just lighter on the hair but her hair isn't thick enough for the regular size scrunchie bands. |

Same here. I re-do the topknot several times a day depending on how active she is. When I take the band out, I massage the top of her head....boy does she love that :p |
Marcel wears a top-clip 24 hrs a day or his hair would be everywhere. Wylie doesn't wear a top knot bc that's just not how he rolls, lol. I used to have Pfeiffer wear one, and wish she would - but to her, the top knot is a toy and she makes it her life's mission to remove it....sigh. |

Bogey is my only one with hair long enough for a topknot. He's usually only in a pony holder and not a bow too. Sometimes at night I will let his hair down while he's sleeping to give his head a rest but usually it's up all the time. When I do use a bow it has a clip on the back and only gets clipped to the front of his hair. If I try to use a bow with a band on the back it would never stay. So it's ponyholder and bow with clip for us. But this way I don't need to mess with it more than once a day because it stays up really well. |

Chloe also plays with bows if I put them in.. which is why I don't put them in. The bands she doesn't mind though, but the whole process of catching her while she runs around the house to NOT get a top knot is a different story, lol. |
I made a few bows but Willow will pull them out within 2 minutes. She is my first Yorkie, what kind of bands do I start with? Thanks! |
Hair bows HI I also have my first yorkie and I find that the tiny clips work the best easy to put in and stay in you just have to be carefule not to get skin. My minni is 14 weeks and hair is fine. She doesn't mind them. good luck.. have fun they look so cute..:) |

If your yorkie has thick hair I'd go with the medium size. For mine size small stays in her hair all day. |
Cali's hair is too long and as you said can't see if it is not up so she always wears one - I use scrunchies because they don't break the hair. I put it up in the morning and then at bed time I pull the scrunchies back to losen it for the night and I message the scalp for a few minutes, she loves that, then in the morning we put a new one up. |
My two are in top knots all day. They are brushed out once/day and I put it back up. The only time their hair is down is when they are getting a bath. |
