Thus is why you should vaccinate for rabies Forsyth Co. family tells horror story of letting dog’s rabies vaccination lapse | MyFOX8.com - News, Weather, Sports and more from WGHP Fox 8 Television I'm not saying that I agree with what is happening in this, but the reality is that currently the government CAN do this to your dog. |
why cant they just do a titter test to confirm he still has rabies vac in his system. so redic to do that to poor simon for three week lapse and no contact. |
Since a dog with rabies will die after 10 days in quarantine, I don't get the 6 month imposition. I would be fighting it. |
I will add that even a one day lapse in my state requires you to use a one-year rabies shot. Some of these rules seem very arbitrary. |
Plus this dog wasn't even bit!! Just absurd!! |

It can take up to six months after exposure to show symptoms. I don't believe a skunk spray should warrant this (humans get sprayed, too!), but the law is clear and rabies is incredibly dangerous. As with other diseases that we have vaccines for I would guess a high titer could be from a vaccine OR exposure to rabies itself. Point is, if you choose not to vaccinate you are playing with fire. |

That poor, poor pup! I can't imagine what he's going through--he's done nothing wrong! This is so sad. Regardless of whose fault it is this poor pup is going to pay for it. :(:cry8: |
Ridiculous. It was only a 3 week lapse. You'd think it was a year. Sadly, people read this story and become fearful of seeking professional help. This person didn't have to take his dog to the vet, there are remedies all over the internet for skunk odor removal, but he did because he cared, and wanted to be safe. Some help he got.:thumbdown |
Wow... what a joke. |
All the posts we read on here where people don't take their dog to a vet after injury/incident, and this guy takes his dog to the vet and is then punished. Surely they could titter? Isn't not like the vaccine protection runs out exactly on a set date. Ridiculous! |
Oh that is so sad  |
If he had bit a human in most states his head would be sent to a lab for exam. Fooling with rabies is stupid. I have known a few people that had to have the abdomen shots because they were bit and dog got away in a rabies watch area. Feel sorry for the dog, hope owner get a $10,000 Vet and boarding bill, the publicity might get some others to license their dogs. |
WOW. This is so cruel for this dog - it's basically solitary confinement which is brutal on mental health of any living creature. This makes me really sad. |
Maggie's rabies was going to expire in July. I read this yesterday and I took her today for her shot because I tend to forget stuff like that if I put it off. One good thing about little dogs is that they get groomed often, and most groomers (Petsmart does) require and up to date rabies, so at least I'd have been reminded soon if I didn't do it. I can totally see forgetting it for a large dog. |
So I took my pup to get his adult distemper/ parvovirus shot were home now amd the area is a little swollen amd if I move him or touch him in the slightest if I do he screams I called the vet they said it's normal cause he's small I'm a little worried..... He is my first yorkie I have other dogs but they r bigger amd I've never had this problem |
