What next? Bubba has always been afraid of thunder, fireworks and the raspberry noise. He shakes and tries to find a place to hide. Our dryer started putting black marks on our laundry, so we got a new washer and dryer. Well, Bubba is afraid of the noise the washer makes when it sprays starting the spin cycle. My poor boy! My husband said we may have to use the delay cycle and do the wash during the night while Bubba is asleep. |
Hmmm, I've got it....Return the washer and send the washing out to be cleaned? lol |
I have a solution -- don't wash clothes! :p |
Haha, in all seriousness... I think the delay cycle sounds like a perfectly acceptable answer. Or you could start positive reinforcement when the washer is on and he would eventually associate the washer with treats? lol |
Hmm.. Hand wash? lol How about offering treats or play fun games with him when it makes those noises? |
I feel your pain. Sophie is afraid of thunder, any buzzing type noise, the FedEx truck, helicopters flying over head or trucks air brakes. She shakes so much she vibrates. I got a thunder shirt and it helped but now I can't find it and at $40. a pop I hate to buy another when I will surely find the old one as soon as I do.:( |
Oh geez!! I feel for you! Im thinking the delay cycle may be your only hope! Good Luck! |
My Jewels is like that not so much about noises inside the house but thunder or a big truck coming down the street or fireworks or anything out of the norm. If my Husband raises his voice she also just shakes like crazy. There was one time I was in pain and I made a noise and it made my chachi whimper |
Poor Bubba. :( I hope you can find a workable solution for him. Laundry is very stressful in our house. I have a standard top loader that goes off balance occasionally and doesn't stop. Max thinks he is in charge of protecting us from the evil monster and alerts us to every change in cycle. Teddy knows we do not want Max doing this, so he gets really stressed out. I want to buy one of the newer front loading designs, but my brother warned me that the spin cycle you are talking about might get Max going. |
Have you tried a dog backpack? It works on the same principle as the thundershirts. I've seen it used on the Dog Whisperer, and it's actually a principle that works with my son, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder, too. He wears his dad's old bullet proof vest. The weight calms them, somehow. Put a small pack on him and put a water bottle in it, or something with weight. Hope it helps your poor puppy! |
