My little girl already weights 6.6 pounds She just turned 6 months in the 26th. How much should I expect her to weight after she turns 2 years old (IIRC most yorkies get to their maximum weight around that age)? We brought her home when she was 4 months, and since then she has gained 1 kilo. |
btw I'm gonna buy her a new crate soon. What size would be good for a big yorkie? Right now we keep her in a small room in case we go out, so the crates would be mostly for travelling and to keep her safe when we got to move furniture around or just clean the room where she stays. also, the local ER vet (we buy the food at his clinic) reccomended us to feed her 1/2 cup of Royal Canin per day. I was wondering what you people thought about this. It's the same quantity of food that he reccomended when she was 4 months old, so I can't help but think that she might need a little bit more of food by now. |
It is hard to predict their full grown adult weight. They grow in spurts, so she may slow down or she may grow a bit more. My girls reached their full weight somewhere around 1 to 1 1/2 years after they were spayed. Have you always been feeding only 1/2 cup per day, and does she eat it all? I like to free feed puppies, keeping food available all day since they sometimes can't eat much at a time. After they switched from puppy food to adult food around 1 yr. old I started feeding them twice a day, measured amounts, usually 1/3 cup in the morning and 1/3 cup in the evening. All 3 are between 6 and 7.5 lbs, though my other girl who ate the same amount got up to 15 lbs. |

Sometimes we feed her one extra 1/8 if she finishes her last 1/4 cup early and we notice she's looking for more food in her owl. Most of the time she finishes the 1/2 before going to bed, though. |
I give my Yorkie a hand full of Royal Canin in the morning and evening. My Yorkie is just 5 months on the 22nd and already 6lbs. I read something that says u take their weight at six moths and times it by 2. That's suppose to give u an idea of the size. |
