My Yorkie is limping Hi I am new to yorkietalk. I am finding posts interesting and helpful. Last night my Yorkie Petie fell trying to get on the couch. He is now limping. How long do I wait to take him to the vets? He also has Lymphangiomatosis. Help! |
I would first like to welcome you to YT, sorry it is under these circumstances. My vet is a 24/7, 365 day vet / clinic, yes, good for me. I am over protective with my pups. I myself would not wait days or even 24 hours. If this happened early morning say 7AM and by early evening, say 5PM and pup is still limping, I would bring my pup to my vet at 5PM, realizing today is a holiday and vets are closed can present a problem to most ppl. I on the other hand will never be faced with not being able to get to my vet. My vet / clinic also accepts any animal regardless if the pet is not one of their clients. All vets in my area for their after hours have a recording referring my vet / clinic in emergency cases. There will be other members offering their advise and suggestions. I hope your pup just has a slight sprain and will clear up in a few hours. Age, weight of the pup will also be a factor as to how soon to see a vet. Good luck, also for emergencies you should always have the number for a 24/7 vet, clinic or ER, with these little rascals, ya just never know when you may need medical help. Having this information before a mishap is always valuable, saves time when you are frantically trying to find someone open on holidays or late at night. Again, good luck, I hope it is not serious. |
sorry for this post, I just re-read your post and see this happened last night and your pup is limping today, so my advise is, see a vet today. |
I would not wait to take him to the vet he needs to go now. Limping means he is in pain. |
ASAP...they have 24hr vets...my Yorkie broke her toe nail and it bleed like a gun shot wound. I almost lost my mind. I took her within the hour because I had to find a 24hr good vet. My vet isn't 24hrs. She goes to Pet Smart Vet. Keep us updated on her. |
I hope you took him to see the vet if not already ASAP.... |
I hope all went well with the Vet visit and pray nothing serious has happened to your sweet Petie. I grew up in the Western Mass area just outside of Springfield. |
I hope you took him to the vet to find out what is was causing his limping. Amy started limping and took her and she has a luxating patella in her hind leg. She was just a few months old and we gave her rimadyl for the pain and she did stop limping. We watch her very carefully and if she starts limping again she will have to have surgery. |
