New excited member! Hi everyone! I'm a dogaholic!! I'll be acquiring my first full bred yorkie this July when she is 12 weeks old. I have a 12 year old Maltese, SHORKIE and MALSHI as well. This yorkie is from a 6 pound female and 3 pound male expected to weigh only 2 1/2 to 3 pounds. I don't want anyone to know I'm getting a fourth because people are so quick to judge. I LOVE small dogs especially the yorkie breed. I groom them, brush their teeth, train them and give frontline and heart guard. Hey some spend $ on sports, I spend on dogs. Well I'm excited to talk yorkie with all of you! They are my passion!😊 |
Hi and WELCOME to YT :)! Can't wait to see some piccies of your new girl! She sounds adorable. |
Thank You! Your Wylie is so adorable! Is your yorkie trained to go outside or wee wee pad? I'm thinking that since Brielle will be tiny, I'll train her on newspaper placed in a pad holder. |
welcome to YT, and congrats on your soon to be new baby girl, I would LOVE to see pictures of your Shorkie and Malshi, both appear to be similar in apperance. |

We mainly do pee pads and have a few placed throughout our house. If I had to do it all over again, I would never have pad trained...next time, it's outside only. I regret the pads. Too late now though. |
Welcome to YT and congratulations on your new baby girl. My Katie is my fifth Yorkie. She is trained to go outside, but I also use washable pee pads when I am way from home for long hours and unable to take her out. ETA: the smilie appeared by accident. I'm not sure what that one means. |
Welcome... I also have a Maltese named Polo and my Yorkie is Prada... When I first got my yorkie the breeder said she'll be between 3-5lbs because her parents were small and she was the runt. Well she's now 4 months and almost 6lbs so don't take their word 100%. |
Welcome to yorkie talk :) your enthusiasm is so fun! We use a potty pad for the most part and I am happy about it. It fits our lifestyle and needs very well- do your other dogs go outside or use a pad? Lilah is four and a half pounds- I was expecting six or seven! Guess you never can tell eh? :yorkieg: |
I am still conteplating pee pads verse outside. My shorkie was first trained on pads and now goes outside too, but thinks that every rug is available to pee on! Not good! All my floors are washable and no longer have rugs. Regarding her size, you're right there's no guarantee on a puppy's future adult weight. I was thinking on possibly training her to be a therapy dog. So if she's bigger than expected she'd make a perfect size to sit in a lap on on a bedside. |
congrats on your pending bundle of love's arrival! you shall fit right in with the rest of us yorkie/dog holics!! :) |
I'm excited for you:exclaim::congrats: I agree, don't take their word 100%. I, on the other hand, wanted a much larger yorkie and the breeder said he'd be about 7-8 lbs. Funny thing though, I still wanted him to be bigger. Well, Jax is now over 12 lbs and still growing :shocked7q His parents are 3lbs and 4lbs. Pattee, mama to JAX:animal37 and "KLOEE":angelyork RIP |
Hi welcome to Yorkietalk! Congrats on your new puppy. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! You will love it here. We did a combination of pee pads and outdoor. When we are gone at work, my two have access to potty pads, but when we are home they go outside. I like that they have a place to go when we aren't home, but primarily use the yard otherwise. |
