Biewer Yorkshire Terrier or Yorkshire Terrier? I can't decide whether to get a Male Biewer or Yorkie. Any suggestion? |
I honestly don't think you can go wrong either way :). I have heard that Biewers are particularly sweet, loving, and calm...whereas I think yorkies can be a bit more "terrier". |
If the biewer weighs 900 grams 5 weeks old, what is his estimated weight on adult? |

Would it still look cute if he exceeds 7 lbs when he reach adult? No idea what a 9 lbs biewer looked like. |
1 Attachment(s) Biewers are adorable! Ours will be 2 yo in July -- he was charting to be 6-7 lbs but actually qualifies for the teapot club - last weight was 11 lbs. He is so sweet, a real little charmer. You can't go wrong with a Biewer. |
Whats the difference between a biewer and a parti? |
I have one of each. The difference between the parti and the biewer are: The biewer is a separate breed of Yorkshire terrier. The parti is a std yorkie with a parti coat. The biewer has very distinct markings and is bread biewer to biewer where the yorkie pari is bread from a biewer and a std yorkie. Look biewer and you can get the biewer colorization. My biewer is 12 lbs but so sweet and loveble, but my yorkie standard has a great disposition too. |

Hi welcome to Yorkietalk! I love parti Yorkies but I also like the look of Biewers. Both are too cute. To me they look very similar but they're considered two different breeds. There are different threads here explaining the difference between them if you use the search bar and type in Biewer vs parti. |
Basic overview The Biewer, named after the founder, originated in Germany in the mid 80's. Over the years they are selectively bred and a standard was set. The standard is similar to the Yorkie, but calls for specific color placement. White paws, tip of the tail, symetrical coloring on the head and face, etc and no docking of tail. It has been recognized as a separate breed by some organization and can be shown in some venues. Not in the AKC Partis are tri-colored Yorkies. They can be registered with but not shown in AKC. Can be shown in some other venues. There is no standard set for them that allows for the non-standard coloring, but typically, most Parti breeders follow the YT standard with color as the exception. Biewer info can be found here... Biewer Breed Club of America You can get more info on the Parti Yorkie here... Yorkshire Terrier - PARTI YORKSHIRE TERRIER CLUB |
