Introduction We are new here. I want to introduce myself and my 3 month old Yorkie. This is my first dog, I have always had cats as pets. Zoie has been with me for almost a week and I am crazy about her. I am hoping to train her so she will be well behaved and safe. The posts I have read here are great so far. I have a lot to learn. I cannot even get her to let me brush her! :animal-pa |
Hi and CONGRATS on your new baby :)!! How exciting. |
welcome to YT and congrats on your new lil baby. Keep in mind this is a lil baby, all squirmy and wiggly, full of energy and does not like to be held down, so filled with energy. It is hard to TRY to brush a wiggly lil worm. Try one, two three strokes with the brush, reward with a treat and lots of praise when she stays still. It's a slow process. Work up to 5 or 6 brush strokes, treats and praise. Their will be others soon to give their experiences, advise & suggestions. Good luck with your new lil wiggly worm. |
One thing that worked for me is waiting until she started to lay down to take a nap to do things like brush her. If she was playing and running around we wants nothing to do with getting her hair brushed. |
Wiggly for sure Yes, that exactly describes her. A wiggle worm and I laugh at the silly thing! She is getting mats in her fur and I don't want to shave her. But she hates the combing and wants to chew her brush. I'll just keep trying and be patient. So many things to teach her. I'm focusing most on house training and walking on her leash. She is the cutest thing ever and I wonder how I went so long without having her in my family. :aimeeyork |
