Yorkie does not bark Someone gave me a found yorkie as they knew I had others. This yorkie has never barked since he came here weeks ago? Any ideas. |
Do not complain ! My Troy didn't bark for months . And when he finally did it was a shocker . In his 4 years he was never a yapper or barker . Only barks I got out of him was when my daughter got off the bus as if he was telling her to hurry up home or he grumbled to himself when he saw a big dog. Your dog doesn't have anything to bark about yet. Enjoy it. |
Has he been debarked |
Thank your lucky stars. Lol |
Ha ha, enjoy it while you can! I took in a little Yorkie and he didn't bark for months, I think he had to feel comfortable and safe before he felt like he could bark. In his previous home, barking had been a huge no no and while it can get annoying, I do believe that a dog should have some bark time. Anyway, in time he was able to bark with the best of them, but now he's rewarded for "good quiet." If your dog had been "debarked", you would hear an odd noise when he tried to bark, it doesn't stop the urge to bark. |
As Nancy suggested, it might be matter of the dog settling into a new home. Teddy was quiet for a long time after we brought him home. Then he only gurgled/growled for awhile. 3 years later, he can match Max's big bark. :D |
It may take him a while to feel protective of the territory. Give him some time and I bet he'll let loose when you're least expecting it. |
it took Lola six months to make any noise after she came to live with us...now she wakes up the dead!! ;) |
Jada was a rehome at 2 1/2 years old she is now 7. She didn't bark for a long time...now she never hushes :D |
Wow someone complaint about yorkie not barking. Sometimes I wish I had that problem! Lol |
Once he begins to see your home as his territory, takes ownership of his space in this world, he'll begin to bark to "protect" his domain. |
I was upset that my first Yorkie didn't bark, so I taught her to, big mistake. I said that I wouldn't teach my next one to bark, she came to already knowing how to, oh well what can you do. Enjoy the silence while it lasts, and as mentioned it might just take a while for it to get used to the new surroundings and new siblings. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |

Maybe he just doesn't have anything to say yet...lol. No seriously I believe once he's comfortable and realizes your home is his...he'll speak up. Then teach him quiet or enough, is what I use. |
