Question about her heat I have a female named Daphney who is 10 months old. She went into heat in March at 8 months. Is it possible she is back in heat already? She is not showing any signs, no swelling, no bleeding. My male yorkies are going crazy. They are in absolute agony. My male Oscar is neutered but he is mounting her nonstop. My male Bruce is also neutered and is mounting and licking her. My other male BJ is not neutered and he is trying to mount her and is sniffing her, licking her, etc. He's the most aggressive dog out of all of them, so he is trying the most of all of them. Daphney isn't stopping them, she's not trying to get them to mount her either. She's just sitting back and enjoying the show. She was not in contact with any other dogs so it can't be the scent of another dog. I am not going to get either of them fixed until they are 2 years of age, so please don't lecture me about spaying and neutering your dog. I am a careful owner and I was able to keep them apart during her last heat. Why are my boys all of the sudden crazy for her? Do dogs just get horny for no reason? Even neutered dogs? |

Uh, no. I am not trying to breed anyone at this moment and I sure as heck do not want an "accident." My reasons for waiting 2 years is because my vet said that is okay to wait. I am going to listen to him. Personally I do not like the idea of giving a puppy anesthesia. There were a few cases I have read about where a puppy goes under to get spayed and does not come out of it. Locally this happened to a neighbor so I am waiting 2 years. I waited 2 years for my other yorkies and that is what works for us. My grandmother was a reputable breeder and I did breed a litter once with her. I am not looking to breed. I am not opposed to it, but I am not looking to do it at this time or in the near future. I cannot ask my grandmother for advice because she died. And, I do not want to make a vet appointment and take a day off work for my vet to tell me there is nothing wrong with my dog. Not that I have clarified the situation, does anyone have any idea what is going on? She shows zero signs of heat and all of the boys are going crazy- yes even the neutered ones. Is it possible that she could go back into heat after not even a full two months? I didn't think that was possible. Again, she is showing zero physical signs. The boys just won't stop mounting any time she's in the room. Thank you for any advice or ideas. |
I wish I knew more to help you. I think you might get more help if this thread was moved to the breeder's section. |
Thank you. I don't know how to move it. But I will post there. Thanks again. |

Fortunately Daphney lost all of her baby teeth. There was one instance of a double canine but that came out recently. And yes, yorkie teeth are the worst! I completely understand about that! I am keeping Daphney with me and the boys are in their room at night. When I am at work she's in her crate and they are in the kitchen. So they have been separated when I am not here to keep an eye on them. This is just such a weird situation! |
