non-standard yorkies Hi all, before I found my yorkie baby, I saw a lot of other cute dogs that were either the parti yorkies or yorkie crosses. And being new to the yorkie world, I am wondering what other people think. I have a standard boy, because I love the traditional look, but I like the gold yorkies too. So my question is, since some people seem to want to branch out from traditional yorkies, do you think it is better to keep them "pure yorkies" (in other colors), or to have the breed crossed with other breeds, maltese for example? |
I would be okay with the partis being an accepted color. I dont like how most parti, golden and chocolate breeders want to charge a high price for a rare color though. It is no better than the breeders that charge a high price for tiny yorkies all motivated by greed |
A reputable breeder will not breed mixes because they breed to better the breed and mixes are not a breed and there are massive amounts filling our shelters. There are reputable breeders who will breed Parti's. A reputable breeder like I said breeds to better the breed and breed to the standard so they will not breed for color faults like golden and chocolate but will occasionally end up with them. Also the breeders who advertise them as rare are simply trying to jack up prices and are not good breeds and don't do all the things reputable breeders do. You might want to check out the yorkie mother club, ytca.org. |
