Completely termpted and undecided! Hi! My breeder, owhere I got Cayo and is sort of a friend too) has nes puppies. 2 bkys and 2 girls. I always wanted a girl, but Cayo was the only , eft and I fell in love. You all know they become family, he is our baby and we take care of him as a baby too. Well, we move around a lot to a beach trailer with a close porch. We take Cayo with us, and we stop doing things we did before like stop to eat during the 2 hour trip, because they do not let him in even if he is in his carrier. My husband said no...because Cayo is enough, but I'm in that time, we all have been before, where we want something, and we know we are not suppose to, butwe do it anyway, (and of course we do NOT regret it because of how much we enjoy it), but it leaves us for that guilty conscience for a while. Also I would have to mKe them share their play pen because 2 don't fit in our bedroom where Cayo stays with us. We are both retired. I have rheumatoid arthritis but I handle it. OMG! What to do? I need to let him, (my friend), this next days so he saves her for me, S.O.S.! |

Well if you know YOU can really take care of 2 and YOU KNOW your husband will be mad for only short time then you have no choice Just do it!!!!! lol let us know what you decide! |
This is exactly how I got my male. Hubby said no, and I went ahead and got him anyway. He has forgiven me and loves our little boy. I say go for it if you can handle another financially and you can give them both your love :) |

You are asking this question in the wrong place. I'm sure you know what the YT forums answer will be.:sidesplt::sidesplt:: |
1 Attachment(s) My friend sent me today a photo of the baby girl left. She is 13 days old. She looks gorgeous! Still trying to convince DH, but I guess if I decide to keep her, I will do as CouversMom said and am pretty sure he will love her almost instantly. Still with some doubt...but... Here she is: |
As a DH and Yorkie lover, I have a couple of questions. First does you husband love and interact a lot with the one you have now? Second, are you prepared to accept the next item that he wants if you get your little girl? I say trust your gut, you know your husband, and just how he will react to you bringing a new puppy home when he has said he doesn't want another, if you know he will get over it quickly(and who can say no to a Yorkie puppy), then go for it. Good luck, and I hope you don't get into too much trouble. I adopted a cat while out getting school and pet supplies one year, and showed Spooky to my wife after she had showered for work, she said that's a pretty cat whose is it and I told her it was hers, she loves Spooky, but I still get ribbed about her not being school supplies. Cheers Quad & Gina:aimeeyork |
I guess you have to decide if you can give another pup the best of care. I know how arthritis can make you feel some days and you need to consider how much room you have as well. Would having another pup be in the pup's best interest and would the one you have now really appreciate the new one? Can you handles the extra vet costs? You just have to be really honest with yourself. I have often wanted to get another Yorkie but I do a lot of work with abandoned animals. Gracie was my treat to myself. I have raised and cared for a lot of animals that eventually go to other homes and I wanted one, just one, that would be of my choosing. I have kept animals that no one else would have. Not the pretty ones or the most social so Gracie is extra special to me. If I got another Yorkie it would mean less time and money to care for the ones the really need help. Gracie is a wonderful aid for helping the new ones adjust to home life. Everyone has to look truthfully at their own circumstances and decide what is best for the animal. |
Oh, my husband is an animal lover and spoils Cayo more than me. We used to have 4 mini schnauzers, still have 2 old ones, and my eldest son is now at home, and brought his pitbull Kyra, which is Cayo's best friend. This new baby is certainly going to be loved and pampered and I'm pretty sure Cayo will love her too. I already told my friend I will keep her. Have not told DH yet...I'll wait till she comes home! Though I've let some comments here and ther so he probably know she is comming home! Thanks to all! Now I cannot wait for her to come home! |
Go for it. |
The other day I was at Farm and Fleet and I heard chirping. When I explored I found 4 big galvanized (watering things for cattle) with baby chicks and turkeys. Of course I had to stop and watch for a while. I noticed that one of the chicks was laying on its back and the others were walking all over it. I moved it to a corner and kept an eye on it. After a while it moved out the center of the container and was immediately pecked on by one of the other chicks. I then scooped it up and found an employee, telling him that that poor little thing was going to die if he didn't keep it away. I was soooo tempted to buy it just to rescue but I had to let it go because it was livestock and we aren't set up for it. I kinda thought it might die anyway and more than likely the employee would put it right back in with the the rest of the chicks. I called my dh on the way home and told him I almost brought a baby chick home and explained the circumstances. He tried to talk me in to going back and getting it. Now you have to understand...We have 4 Yorkies and cat. Dh says no more animals""" Every time I bring up the subject he swears that we will eventually have only two dogs because four are a lot to handle for him. I tell you this because if I brought a puppy (ANY breed) home he would let me keep it and love it just as much as I would. I think your dh will be fine with it. Congrats on your decision! I envy you for the fun you are going to have. |

update This is an update. Many things happened during these days. My little girl didn't developed her lungs and she passed away days after I wrote this post. But today, I brought Luna home! She is an adorable 1 year 3 months yorkie. Have not weight her yet but she must be around 3 pounds. OMG! Cayo is 7 1/2 months and is 5 pounds! AND...she is starting heat! Now the whole story. I was so sad because of what happened last week that I started searching to see if I could find another furbaby. And I found a breeder, that had one baby girl. Went to see her and suddenly he offers me Luna. He said she was given to him two weeks ago by a lady who was moving and could not take her to the new place. He told me I could have her if I wanted because she needed a loving home. My heart broke with her story. She is a bit skinny but very active. He gave me all her records and she has all her shots. She will need some dental work for she still has the baby fang next to her adult one on one side and some tartar. Already called the vet so he can sterilize her but the assistant told me, even he can perform the surgery, I still needed to keep eyes on her until heat is over. That I didn't understand...if she is sterilized do females are as males the sperm is still on the ducts for a while? I ran to Petsmart before getting home and bought her some panties! Don't want Cayo to have any temptations...LOL! So now we are proud parents of two beautiful and lovely furbabies! Wow! Now I am going to need that stroller! |
Congrats! You need to know that the panties will not stop your little boy. Separate rooms. If they are together for even a second it can happen! My newest baby is from just such a litter. Little girls are lots of fun, right along with little boys. |
Oh my! He is not very interested in smelling her, but she will be I her crate while I cannot supervise them. Cayo sleeps with us in a playpen and I was planning to make them share for it is big, but not while she is in heat and not sterilized. |

Not yet. But yesterday I called the vet as soon as I got Luna. He will probably get fixed together with her. Need to make the appointment today. |
Congrats on your new lil girl Luna, I am so very happy for you. Please be very careful while she is in heat, females in heat is a 3 week process, if you or your vet does not know how long she was in heat before you got her you need to be very careful and watchful over her around Cayo. Cayo may not have been interested in her at his first meeting, that is not to say with in a day or so he will remain uninterested. I would definitely keep the two separated until lil Luna is out of heat. Spaying Luna & neutering Cayo is the best thing you can do for the health of them both. Again I am so happy you have gotten that lil girl you have been longing for. |
She is just starting. Last week when I met her she was not. I used to breed Miniature Schnauzers so, I'm comfortable with her being in heat, though I wasn't expecting her to be on heat before I had the chance to spay her. :confuse2: Well, let's see what the vet will say today when I call for the appointments. She is a darling and already feels almost home. Sniffing and playing and showing every now and then some shyness! |
Congrats on getting Luna! We would love to see pictures of her. |
1 Attachment(s) This is a fast shot in the playpen. Later will post more presentable one. Cayo at the left and Luna right to him. Gorgeous lady and lovable boy! |
awww congrats they look so happy together!! |
Aw they're both adorable :) Thank you for sharing the pics. |
Life is short and these these yorkies are such a joy. My two girl and boy snuggle together when I'm not home. Get her!!! |
They are both adorable. lil Luna looks soooo sweet, again, happy you finally have your lil girl. |
1 Attachment(s) Luna is adapting super fast! Cayo is starting to let her play with his toys...but he takes hers! I tried to take a nice picture of them together but oh God, how hard it is! Here is the best I got...isn't this love? |
lol how sweet is that. |
I can relate - I have a female westie and male yorkie, and convinced my husband to let me get a female yorkie! I love my male but wanted a girl too. Three dogs are more challenging than two, especially since my male has not been receptive to the new pup! After 6 wks, it's getting better and there is light at the end of the tunnel! Sounds like u r commited, so go for it ( go for a female that is more calm and low key - mine is strong willed). |
