Sympathy gift? I heard over the weekend that a good neighbor of mine had to put their dog to sleep... His name was Buddy and I think he was only 7-8 years old... He's been really sick for about a year and they did everything they could but I guess it was his time. I'm planning on stopping by to show my sympathy but I don't want to go empty handed. What would be an appropriate thing to bring them? Baked goods ok?... |
I think baked goods is very thoughtful...when we lost our little girl I received several cards and also some flowers. I believe any simple gesture even just a heartfelt card speaks volumes and means so much when you are grieving! It is nice to know people care that you are hurting and mean well :-) |
1 Attachment(s) How thoughtful of you, I'm sure anything, even just a visit with condolences would be greatly appreciated, the number one complaint I hear is that "people just don't understand, what I'm going through." People need to feel like others can understand the pain and feelings of loss. Another option is printing out the poem from Rainbow Bridge, I think it can add comfort to some people. |

Aww so sweet of you. I know any token of remembrance will be so greatly appreciated. |
I like the poem idea...in a sympathy card I received from Bella's groomer she included a poem about losing a pet and how they are never gone but always with you...cannot remember the name of it. I have it on my nightstand and read it often. It was very comforting to receive when I was going through a loss that isn't always "validated" by many people. Sadly not everyone recognizes the magnitude of the loss of a pet. |

Another nice option would be a garden stone with the pet's name. Really, anything would be lovely. It's very sweet of you to keep them in mind right now. I'm sure just knowing you have them in your thoughts will be comforting. |
Thanks for all the feedback. Magnus and my first impression of Buddy wasn't great as he tried to bite Magnus when he was a puppy. LOL But as time went on, they got to be really good friends. I used to be one of his favorite ppl to see on walks b/c I'd always give him a treat. He'd look at me with those big adorable brown eyes. He was so sweet... I wish I was able to pet him before he left for the rainbow bridge... |
When Gina passed my friends sent cards and one brought us an angel holding a little dog. These angels have wire wings and come in different poses. I think you can find them at card shops. |
How sweet of you! I'm sure whatever you give them will be appreciated in the hard time they are going through. |
