Ears flopped Hi guys!! My baby boogie already have erect ears when he was just 3 months old (as seen in my profile picture). These past few days I just noticed that his right ear flopped. Why is it so? Is there something wrong with him? Will his ear erect again? Thank you guys! :) |
Are you keeping the hair trimmed on his ear leathers? |
I asked a similar question when I got on here. I'm new to this breed as well so I'll tell you one of the reasons that I was told that their ears can be floppy is that they are teething. So maybe your little guy is getting some new teeth in? Another reason could be that the hair on their ears is too heavy so maybe your little one's ear hairs have grown too heavy for him to hold them up anymore? Those are a couple reasons I was told could be the reason for it but there are some other more knowledgable ladies on the board who would know better than I. However, I just wanted to chime in, in case they aren't lurking around at the moment to answer. :) |

Hi! :) I haven't tried trimming his hair on the ears. Can I do it myself or do I need to take him to a groomer? Thanks for the reply. |

Thank you for the reply. Maybe he is teething because I noticed he likes chewing on his toys and his favorite chew toy are my fingers! :) I'll also try to shave his hair on the ears. Maybe he is also moody due to the vaccines? Thanks! |
Clippers are the way to go & yes you can do it yourself. Trim it in a "V" shape, 1/3 of the way down. This will take the weight off his ears. :) SarahBear was right too, he's probably teething as well. I use an unconventional method to get the ears up. I buy a package of "Dr. Scholl's Moleskin and cut a piece the size of the pup's ear. Spray carburetor cleaner (YES carburetor cleaner and NO it won't hurt the dog, it only makes the moleskin very sticky and adheres to the ear, much less trouble than taping and this has worked for me for over 30 years) Place than on your puppies's ears (the inside of the ear leather) and within a week or so, his ears will be erect. :) |

Thank you! |
Eyelash glue works for that method also and would probably be less toxic. |
