New to Yorkies and just thought I'd join to learn more here. 1 Attachment(s) Hi my name Sarah. Our family consists of my husband Alex and our son who's three and then we have our furry friends Mischa (tabby cat), May-May (pixie bob cat), Buckwheat (husbands very gentle and nurturing German Shepard), and lastly our newest addition Darla. I just picked up Darla today. She's the sweetest little girl I've ever met. We've not had her 24 hours and she's already come into our house and stolen all our hearts. Buckwheat our German Shepard literally thinks she's his puppy and he babies her like a mother would. He's been around other small dogs so he's used to the tiny babies. Darla is 10 weeks old. She's AKC registered purebred Yorkshire Terrier. Currently she's about 1.5 lbs and is expected to between 4-5 lbs at her mature weight. I have her eating Merrick brand dog food. She's eating and drinking which I've never seen a dog do the first day of being in a new environment but I sure am happy she's eating. I have no idea what kind of color she is. I guess I'm gonna need to learn about the colors. I didn't even know they had any other colors aside from what you normally see. Anyways here's some pics. |
Welcome to YT. Your babies are precious! |
She's a cutie. That's how my dog treated my Yorkie when we got her. He acted as if that was his baby. |
Welcome to Yorkietalk! Aw both Darla and Buckwheat are adorable and Darla's little tongue sticking out is too cute. |
welcome to YT, that is the sweetest pic I have ever seen. |
Welcome. She sure is a cutie. |
Welcome to YT. What an absorbable picture! |
Hello :wavey: and :welcome4: to YT. She is such a cutie |
Thanks everyone for all the warm welcomes. I just got back from scouring petsmart for all the pet supplies she needs. I have a cat carrier that I just use to take my cat to the vet in so I'm letting Darla use that when she needs to be crated. Luckily I'm a stay at home mom so she doesn't need to be crated often. I snuck her into target to get her a baby blanket. So now I have a nice little spread laid out with lots of toys on it to entertain her. She's so little though so she sleeps a lot right now. She definitely plays when she's awake though so I know she's not sleeping a lot because she's sick. Plus I took her to banfield to start her puppy plan and she checked out with a clean bill of health. I have started her on a calorie booster so that should help to prevent any hypoglycemia issues. She's spoiled rotten already. She has a cheetah print bed but she sleeps with me and her daddy. He got mad last night because I took her from his side of the bed and put her on mine. Don't let men fool you, they love these little darlings just as much as we ladies do. I'm gonna post more pics in the Yorkie pictures topic so that I don't post incorrectly. Feel free to check them out when you have the chance. :-) |
Welcome to YT....I always recommend two great books for my new owners...."Yorkies For Dummies" is super and a must have for your Yorkie library! Next, I love "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide"....these two books will certainly get you started in laying down a solid foundation of knowledge about the breed and how to handle specific issues.... |
