Possible gum ingestion? So I made the mistake of leaving Winston alone for an hour while I was in the other room. I came back out and noticed he had hoped up on the table and gotten ahold of a pack of gum i had on the table. I'm not sure how many piece were in the pack, but it was almost gone. I picked up al the pieces and it perfectly worked out to 3 whole pieces. I wasn't sure if there was more the than in the pack so I induced vomiting with hydrogen peroxide which was successful. He vomited up his dinner that he ate prior to the incident but no gum, no wrappers, nothing but food. By my logic, there must of only been 3 pieces in the pack because I would have seen something in his vomit if he actually ate some of it, right? I mean I dont think there is anyway the gum passed through his stomach before the food he had eaten hours prior. We should be good right? Its 2 am here, I can call the vet in the morning but I'm thinking this doesn't warrant an emergency visit at the moment since Im like 99% certain he didn't actually eat any. Does my logic make sense? |
Was it sugar-free? That can be very bad. Please google dog ingesting sugar free gum. Xylitol is very dangerous and should be treated immediately. I'm not a vet. Google it and call your vet. Regular sugar gum is not near as bad. There can be blockage and such as that but look for the ingredients. Good luck!!!!! |
The risk is so great that you need to go to the vet unless you are positive hee didnt eat the gum |
