pregnant or not Hi I am very frustrated was thinking my little girl was pregnant, her nipples have grown her tummy had gone very taught she had been sick a few times at about 2-3 weeks. All seemed to be going well although not really slowed down and sleeping as they say they do! She has gone very aggressive over her food as I have 3 other dogs ( a yorkie and 2 Collies) she guards her food instead of eating it.. but anyway all seemed ok but now only 10 days to go and now she aS lost her taught tummy?? so think maybe not pregnant after all....very upset aS was so looking forward to having some pups she is nearly 5 and would be her first litter! What's the chances ???? O can't afford an Cray..... |
If you can't afford an X-ray, you can't afford a c-section if your girl has issues... Please, please get your little girl spayed! |
I would get an X-ray and if she's not I would spay her. |
At the very least, you need an xray.....and like someone has already said, if this little lady gets into trouble with this whelp, what in the world are you going to do? If these babies are dead and need to be removed, and she needs a c-section, what provisions have you made to have that done for her? She will have to have those dead puppies removed or she can get toxic and die. If they are not dead, and one gets stuck or gets sideways, and she needs an emergency csection , say at 2am on Sunday am, you are looking at an emergency clinic situation, which will usually run you around $1800.00-$2500.00, and that is without any other complications. Have you read any books on whelping? Do you know what can happen when things go south on you? Good luck to you and your little lady....hopefully, this little lady is not going to have any issues....but I will tell you, Yorkies are notorious for having problems.....before, during and/or after pregnancy. |
It's not a fun time to take your dog to the emergency vet at midnight on a Friday, after a holiday to have a c-section. It's even less fun when she wakes up from that c-section and looks and feels like hell and wants nothing to do with those little pups the vet just pulled from her stomach before stapling her back together. Feeding pups every 2 hours around the clock for 2-3 days while you hope and pray that she comes around and decides to be a mommy to her puppies just plain sucks! And feeding puppies every 2 hours around the clock for months because she never comes around, well it's enough to drive you crazy! Even worse is the fact that your girl may not make it through a c-section. You could lose her and any puppies. Are you willing to gamble with your pets life?? It's not worth it. Have her spayed. |
Like others said you need to get a X-Ray done. Then if she is not pregnant she needs to be spayed. Maybe she will be less aggressive? All I know is l wouldn't want my 5 year old girl having her first litter! |
I've read that the first litter should be between the ages of 2 to 3, and if the first litter is at the age of 5. the pelvis lacks the necessary flexibility to welp a litter without a c-section. (experienced breeders please correct me if I am wrong). If your girl isn't pregnant, you and she have dodged a bullet. |
