I know dogs are like people, they look different. My question is can fullbred Yorkies have long erect ears? My 3 month old Kobie does and someone asked me if I was sure he's a Yorkie????

Welcome to YT, have you looked at any threads? reason I ask is, if you did you would have seen 99% of pictures yorkies have straight, stand up ears. The are yorkies that do have floppy ears, my first 2 girls had floppy ears, my 3rd have German Shepard size ears. Soooo, to answer your question. YES, full breed yorkies have stand up ears. Who ever asked you that question must know little to nothing about dogs. Look at some of the post.

How long are we talking here? I recently saw some "purebred" Yorkies for sale that had long skinny ears that I refer to as "bunny ears." The ears looked VERY odd, but the rest of the pups looked full Yorkie. I find it totally plausable that your pup is purebred. They come in all shapes in sizes now-a-days due to bad and over breeding.

PPS, my pups ears in this pic were at 1/2 mast, he HATES his sweaters or coats and shows it lol, but he has big stand up beautiful ears

People prefer yorkies with ears that stand up obviously the person that made the comment dosent know what she's talking about. Probably has seen vary few yorkies as the majority of them have ears that stand all 3 of my yorkies have ears that stand.

I have recently joined and I do come on and read various post however I don't know a lot about Yorkies so for all I know there could be a mix or what have you. Sometimes I feel embarrassed for asking any questions. This is my first puppy....first dog ever! I know the dogs can vary just like people, the lady that asked me I guess was basing her knowledge from her daughter in laws Yorkie who is way smaller with shorter ears lol. My Kobi went to the vet today and he already weighs 7 lbs 4 oz and his brother only weighs 4 lbs 15 oz.

Thank you all, I have so many questions because I want to be the best mommy I can!

Don't be embarrassed no question is stupid because it means your trying to learn. There are so many people breeding yorkies for the wrong reasons that they aren't doing what reputable breeders do which is to breed to better the breed and only breeding dogs that follow the standard. So there are a lot of different looking yorkies. I got my yorkie before I knew about this site and before I knew about brokers who get the pups from puppy mills and mine came from a broker. She is 17 pounds and has floppy ears. She has some health issues haveing been a puppy mill pup but she's my baby. I have seen yorkies with all different kind of ears.

Laddy has longer ears I call him donkey ears when he needs them trimmed lol. Kyra's ears are smaller but were standing the first time I saw her at 6 weeks old.

Never feel embarrassed, always ask what you don't know. You being a first time dog owner, and a yorkie first timer, you will have many, many questions. Ask away, members on YT can answer just about any thing, any problem.As I said, that is one awesome lil pup, and beautiful ears.
