Which Flea/Heartworm Prevention??
 
So, I am looking into which flea and tick and heartworm prevention I should use on my yorkie. I have been looking around on what 1800petmeds has to offer and found this stuff called Sentinel. From what I read, it prevents heartworm and fleas both. Is anyone familiar with Sentinel? What are your thoughts on it? Does anyone else have suggestions for flea/heartworm prevention?

Have you ever split up a larger dose of Advantix? I'm planning on using that too.

Also Heartguard is really good. Logan is starting Triheart today (generic heartguard)

All of 3 mine of take monthly Sentinel and have for many years.

Awesome. I called 2 different vets to ask them about it and both said its great and recommended it so I just ordered a 6 month supply for my little dude :D

My two were on Interceptor till it was discontinued. Then went on Heartguard but have changed to Sentinel few months ago. I used to put advantix II on them but I kept finding ticks on both Magnus/Zoey too often.

Hows the sentinel working for you?
I heard from a few people that said the same, when using the frontline and advantix II they still found ticks and fleas on their dogs. I dont trust the topical stuff.

Does anyone know how old yorkie pups have to be to be put on sentinel? I think 8 weeks

Since Sentinel has the flea prevention along with the heartworm prevention, I don't use the advantix II. Instead, I run my fingers all over their body to check for ticks. Luckily, we don't really have issues with fleas in my area but I use the flea comb once in a while to double check.

So far so good with both Magnus/Zoey. I haven't seen any negative reaction so I'll keep them on this stuff unless I hear/see otherwise.

I use Revolution on Deuce. He has problems with most of the other meds. It seems to work for us.

Heartguard Plus for heartworms.

Flea/tick meds as needed (usually only summer). K9 Advantix works better for ticks around here, but sometimes I'll get Frontline since it's cheaper.
