Help!!! HelloMy name is Kristen and I recently purchased a little Yorkie we named Rocky My family loves dogs, but this is our first small breed animal and we are confused on what to do...do we get his tail cut?? (We believe he is about 3 months...no papers)...he is training well on the pads. How often do he get shots? Are they the same kind as big dog shots?........sorry for the ramble, just have ALOT of questions ......can you give me any advice, tips??? |
Congratulations and welcome to YT. It is too late to dock his tail, but I'm sure he looks beautiful with it. It would be considered an amputation and be very painful for him. Tails are usually docked 3-5 days after birth before all the nerves are there. I prefer Dr. Jean Dodd's protocol for vaccinations. I don't give leptospirosis or corona shots to my Yorkie. They can cause allergic reactions, and I don't need to worry about exposure in my area. There is a lot of questions raised about the effectiveness of the Lepto vaccine. They get the same amount as big dogs. I wouldn't get the booster done with other vaccines. I wish you much love, health, and happiness with your little boy. Take Rocky to the vet for an initial physical exam. The vet will be able to tell you the best vaccination regimen. |
