Yorkie having accidents? So my Mickey has been using wee wee pads really good. Hes been using them for three months straight with no accidents. But now it's spring time and the weather is getting nice, so I've been training him to potty outside. For three days now I've taken him out to use the bathroom and he hasn't used his pads in three days. But today it was raining, so I didn't take him out but left his pads where they always were assuming hell use his pads like usual. But today he peed on the floor! Not his pad! So I assumed "okay he probably couldn't make it to the pads and couldn't hold it." So a few minutes ago Mickey peed on the floor again!! Two times in one day! He hast done this in three months. Do you think the outside training confused him? Do you guys know a way I could train him to use outside but pads on days with bad weather? Some people say their dogs do that. Why did he pee on te floor twice today? Thanks guys ;) |
When you started the outdoor training, have the pads still been in their usual spots, or did you take them away? If you took them away, yes, this is probably going to confuse him to have them appear only on rainy days. He might think he isn't supposed to use the pads anymore. One of my friend's girl is strictly outdoor trained, but when weather is dangerous, she will take her girl into the garage to use the pad. The pup doesn't like the pad, but still considers the garage as separate from the house. I think your best bet is to choose to either have the pads always available, although outdoors will be the primary potty, or to brave the rain. |
Yeah I actually did leave the pads in the usual spot while I was training him outside. But Later last night and this morning he used the pads perfectly. So I'm assuming maybe it was just an accident he had yesterday mixed with confusion? Whatever it was, he's using his pads well again, thank you so much though! ;) |
