Good advice and input in these replies. I cringe every time I hear someone mention Greenies. Definitely not worth the risk in my opinion. |

Bear has had cet dental sticks since our first visit to the vet (1/2 stick/day then) and now has a couple of whole petite sticks each day. He's never choked on them. He gets one when he goes in his crate at night and never chews it in there but every morning when he gets up and out for his bathroom duties, he runs back to his crate and gets it. His teeth are very clean, so they must be working! |
choking hazard and full of starch, me no likey |
I do feed Greenies for a treat less than once a month....none of my Yorkies are gulpers. I started feeding Greenies over 9 years ago to Rusty and they were of questionable materials then, but he loved them. I think he only likes them now. All of my Yorkies take off alone and enjoy their Greenie. I only buy the PETITE size. |
Think ill try dentastix are those by pedigree? |

chester likes cod skins, safer than greenies I believe |
I used to feed Greenies until I had issues with Prince getting them stuck in the sides his mouth...big chunks of them. He LOVED Dentastix, and I was finally able to wean him off them when he lost most of his teeth at his last dentist appts. He found one a few weeks after his dental and was trying to chew it and I had to take it away from him. I've since replaced his Dentastix with lowfat pupperoni's...still not my "ideal" treat for him, but it's the only stick like thing I've been able to find that's soft enough for him to chew that he will eat. |

Swallowing big pieces is scary. We had to give up Texas Toothpicks after Teddy swallowed a sizable piece. When he threw it up, he went limp and I thought he was dying. :( He recovered right away, but it was terrifying, and we had to make sure he had not aspirated. Nothing is safe with my boys. I hold the CET chews for them, but they are still dangerous. |

My search continues as well...I've tried many things and Winston is just not interested. I guess he just isn't a chewer, but I still wish I could find something other than his kibble that he'd chew on. |
These are the new Cod Skins that I put in a kong holder for Buster. I like them because they are brittle and not like jerky so no Buster choking hazard. They are not a long lasting chew but Buster loves them and I figure they are good for skin & coat. I have been buying the tube for $12 but after checking their site this might be a better bargain. https://www.polkadog.com/shop.php?ma...0#.UzxT5axqOPQ |
