How long is too long. 1 Attachment(s) So, Since I brought Molly home, she wont let Mike alone for a minute when I allow them to play outside. I think is great that they get along so nicely but they do play and run and jump quiet a lot, and I am not sure if I should let them play until they say no more, which up to now, they never seem to get tired until night time. So how long should I let them play, unlimited, a couple hours and then separate them or calm them down in the bed? doesn't matter? I documented some of their playing time in a little video.... yes againg :-P.... I hope you don't get annoyed by all my little videos LOL... I just like to document these little guys. Ohh and my days of long play station 4 playing session are pretty much over I think, since Molly seems to have a thing for my PS4 controller and how the tv reacts when she plays withit :-/ ..... see attached pic :-( . Tks. guys/girls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXrWjJBs3cU |
They are so cute, I'd just sit and watch them play all day. Love the way Molly hops like a bunny. I don't know the answer to your question about how much play is too much, but I have heard that tiny pups can over exert themselves and have episodes of hypoglycemia if they play too much. Just make sure they are eating every few hours to replace what they are burning off. It is amazing how well they get along. You must be having a blast with them. If you get Mike's hair trimmed, he will be really light, and you will hardly recognize him. Keep posting photos and videos, we love them. |
OMG they are adorable!! Looks like lots of fun. |
Talk about cuteness overload!!! |
I LOVE all the videos of your babies, they are just toooo cute, Yep, life as you knew it is over lol, but what a trade off. How can you NOT watch and enough these 2 lil imps. Brings back memories when I had a pup that terrorized my 3 y/o, they played till they dropped, just like the end of your video. How much is to much? you will get that answer here. I let my baby play till she was all pooped out, but that was me. You will get advise from the experts here on YT. Enjoy those lil imps, they grow up so fast. You are a great loving dad. |
They are just too precious - especially when they are worn out. |
They are so cute....look like little angels when they are asleep. |
They are adorable! Molly looks like a natural with the Play Station controller. Max was like Molly and Mike and played like the Energizer Bunny at their age. He was larger, 3 pounds, so I didn't worry. I think as long as they are eating and drinking well and do not exhibit any signs of hypoglycemia, you are okay letting them play to their hearts' content. Sometimes breeders will warn against human over-handling of young, tiny pups. But the pups usually play with their littermates until they are tired. Enjoy the show! |
IDk... I'd stop them every 30-60 minutes and offer food and water, and have them calm down for a few minutes. They have no common sense at a young age and don't know when to quit. Injuries can happen when they get overtired. Try to include training sessions and walking together, games like fetch so they're learning while having fun. Looks like Pups Gone Wild! Lol! |
They are just toooo cute. I just watched the video again, and thought how cool it would be if you had a live feed puppy cam on them; we would be watching them all day :D. On second thought maybe that's not so good, we'd never get anything done. |
Don't worry any about how much they play. That's exercise for them, well fed and tired dogs are happy dogs ! I KNOW exactly how you feel seeing them playing together. I have two pairs (adult and Junior) who do the exact things. Just be happy that they love and enjoy each other so much. They are establishing a relationship which will last a lifetime for them. |
I just got a 5 month old male who is just pooping out my poor 7 yr old female. She loves to play but usually only in the mornings for a few hours then then she has enough.... I usually have to separate him because he just won't leave her alone. They seem to sort it out over time. Soo cute..... love the video. |
They are both so precious. What a priceless video! |
Puppies are sort of like kids in that they will go and go and go, as long as you let them!! I agree with KJC. Let them play and separate them ever so often to make sure they eat and drink and relax. Thank goodness they wear each other out. Can you imagine if you had to drain all of that energy out of them yourself?? Molly looks like a pro with the PS4. Have you tried one of those cat laser lights yet?? Ricky loves it!! I bet your little guys would like it too!! |
Ahhhhhhhhh If been debating on weather to get another one just for that reason! Now I want another one! It's just convincing DH💝 |
I love the video; your two pups are adorable. I would just make sure you get a breakfast into each of them before they really start going at it. Do you know the signs of hypoglycemia since your pups are so young and small? You always want pink gums. If they start looking white your pup is in danger. If your pups don't have the appetite they should (always happens every once in a while when they're young) offer a little squeeze of Nutrical on your finger; that stuff always seems to perk up appetites. Thanks for posting the video, Miguel. It looks like you guys all have so much fun together. |
Hey guys/girls, Thank your for all your tips and pointers, I really appreciate it. I am monitor them checking for any sign of extreme fatigue that would indicate hypoglycemia or anything like that, but so far they look like two healthy strong puppies playing really rough LOL .... I took them to the vet for some vaccination and worms/general check up this weekend and they both are super healthy, so the vet says... Mike is weighting 1.9 lbs at 16 weeks old and he is getting a little chubby Molly is weighting 1.4 lbs at 12 weeks old and she is definitely chubby But they are so little and I am trying to get them to grow up as big as they can, but watching their diet also, so I don't making then fat. But he really needed a hair trim, I can't wait until he grows back out his new coat :-P .... Again thank you guys and girls.... sorry for the late response.... by the way... I am still having my posts delayed for quiet a long time... :-/ |
It will be interesting to see "light" Mike. That chubby puppy state is very normal and not an indication that they will be fat when they grow up. It's a good thing, and puppies should have food available to them at all times at this age, especially yours since they are so active. Keep the photos and videos coming.... we love them:D |
They are so fun together! I just got a new rescue pup and Gunner and he are playing a little bit, nothing like your two! Can I make a small suggestion? Don't let them play with collars on? If one of the pups teeth or jaw gets hung up on the others collar they might hurt themselves. Better to be safe than sorry. JMHO. It would only take a second for one of them to get hurt, even if you are watching closely. Love watching your videos. |

Thank you. :-) . |
they sure are adorable and full of energy. I guess I would give them forced breaks. Mike is really getting silver, I had a light platinum silver female once and it was very pretty, she always received lots of compliments |
