Best advice would be regular health checks with the vet, good food and exercise. |

It can be scary to live with the smaller ones bc you do feel vulnerable about their size and safety, but we have so many little ones here who live full, healthy lives - so try not to worry too much. I have 2 that are about 4lbs, so not much bigger than yours - and they are happy, healthy, and sturdy. Your girl is adorable, btw. :) Is there anything in particular that you're scared/nervous about in terms of size, that we could help you with? |

I am no expert but i agree with the other posters and would add that the care of her teeth is very important over time. (I use an enzymatic poultry flavored toothpaste and I think it works pretty well.) |
Vet care is important and I think every one should but especially with a tiny have a bile acid test to test for liver shunt |

Hope this will ease your mind a bit -- little Butterbean is 4 years old and weighs around 2.5 lbs on a good day. His mommy (my neighbor) has had almost every medical test known to man :D done on him and he is very healthy, just small. The biggest worry with Butter is making sure he doesn't skip a meal. He is a "farm dog" and needs all of his calories so that he doesn't run out of energy while on duty chasing chickens, squirrels and other critters out of the back yard. So if I had any additional advice to add to the above it would be to feed him the highest quality food you can find and be sure that he doesn't skip meals. |
Don't worry about how little she is, cause she'll know you're feelings and will react to them. Some good advice here about food and exercise, an active dog is usually a healthy one. GEES what a little doll she is  |
You have excellent advice here. Galen is just 3.5 lbs. I know how they are an extra worry. Make sure she eats. That is the biggest thing. I always have Nurtical just to make sure. Also I do not allow him to jump down from the couch. |
I have a 3 pounder here that was 10 this past dec she is still very happy and healthy :) |
I have one that is 3lbs after meals lol and she does great. I agree with all the advice given. |
I don't have any advice about her being small because mine is a teapot, but... OMGosh she is just too stinkin cute! |
