Hi there ~ I am almost a neighbor ~ we're from Wheeling, WV. :D
My first Yorkie ~ Hutch, was about 11 pounds and was an honest to gosh Yorkie. His mom and dad were small, but he just got larger than the norm. I carried him around a lot. Not too heavy. And, I loved him soooo much. He passed on to his other life at the age of 16. We now have another guy. Yorkies are the best!!! My friend has a Morkie and he is just as sweet, cute, etc. as my full blooded Yorkie. Enjoy your little baby!!! She is a real cutie!!

:)

Hello and thank you for the warm welcome. :) I've actually been taking her to The Animal Clinic. It is indeed a small world. It's really neat to get a local response. My aunt lives in Buffalo. Has for many years. We have all of our family get togethers at the church there. But thank you for the comment. She is my little princess regardless. She's such a sweetheart. :)

That's pretty cool that you're that close.:) I've lived in Buffalo my whole life. The house I own used to belong to my Grandparents. I know Debbie from The Animal Clinic. She's a very nice lady. She used to work with us until she went back to work at Animal Clinic. My boss, Dr. Hill, used to work at Animal Clinic until she bought Guernsey Veterinary Clinic.
Enjoy your new baby but beware, they're addicting.;) I have 4!

Yay! Another neighbor! :) Thank you for the information. It makes me feel a ton better knowing that even if she does get bigger than average, there's still a good chance I can carry her around. She expects it anyhow! Every time I come through the door, she's jumping all over me until I pick her up and let her give me kisses all over. Even if I've only stepped out for a moment. :) I just love her. Sorry to hear about Hutch. He sounds like he was a wonderful yorkie! Thank you again for the comment!

In your last photo she does look full Yorkie but she looks older than 4 1/2 mos. Anyhow..she's a cutie! It can sometimes be difficult to get really good pictures of them. I have to take about 20 photos of my little Hannah just to get 1 or 2 good ones. Welcome to YT!

4? Wow! :) I bet you stay busy! I agree, they are addicting! They have such admirable personalities! I'm already thinking of adding another yorkie to the family, just not sure our pug, Max, would like that another puppy chewing his ear. Lol. I didn't realize Dr. Hill had that office. I've always gone to the Animal Clinic so that's where I took my Lilly. I have met several nice ladies at the animal clinic, just not sure of their names. One older lady always talks to me about yorkie's when I'm there. She used to have one. She's a really sweet lady.

Yes, she is very big for her age. It does make me wonder if I was just completely misinformed on her age altogether. That would explain a lot, but she definitely acts like a puppy! Thank you for the welcome! I'm very pleased to be here. I agree about the pictures! I have so many of her but half of them her face looks blurred or she's turned her head completely before I've snapped the shot! Sometimes, I think she does it on purpose! :)

I definitely stay busy! I have a total of 7 dogs: 4 Yorkies, 2 Standard Poodles, and a Lhasa Apso. Pugs are nice dogs too. I've never had one but we have several that come into the clinic and they're always such happy little carefree dogs. I don't think I've ever met a mean one. I just don't know if I could handle all of the snoring and snorting, lol. I've found all of my dogs have always adjusted pretty well whenever I bring home a new one. My youngest is Lily, she's a 4 year old Yorkie Poodle mix but she looks like a Yorkie with a long tail. I brought her home from the clinic last year when her previous owner didn't want her anymore.:( Her and Haley, my 13 year old Yorkie don't like each other a whole lot so I do separate them when I'm not home. They do tolerate each other, I just don't think they'll ever be close friends. Haley is kind of grumpy and definitely the boss of the house.;)

Welcome to YorkieTalk! She's a cutie. I don't know for sure if she's a purebred yorkie, but you could get a dna test done on her to find out for sure.

Again, thank you all for your kind responses. I thought I would add another pic of my little girl. I'm pretty certain at this point that I was overcharged for what I believed was a full bred, but we live and learn, right? :) Doesn't change the fact that I love her with my entire being! :)

welcome to YT... My last lil girl was 17 lbs, big, not fat, beautiful girl, AKC papers....(her pic is in my photo album) I had to put her down this past Oct. at age 16 y/o. In this pic your baby looks like a yorkie to me, a bit scruffy fur, but a pic is just that. I carted my 17 lb'er around, to me size is not an issue, it's the breed I love. You may not have gotten the under 5 lb'er you were looking for, but you saved a lil one. Enjoy her.

Thank you for the response. I agree with you on the size. It's definitely a love of the breed! I fell in love with yorkie's at the age of 10 when my best friend's mother purchased one. Since then, I've dreamed of owning a yorkie. I waited until I had the time and could provide the required attention to such a breed. :) I just want to be able to tote her around and it sounds pretty reassuring at this point, that even if she does get larger, I can still carry my baby with me. I do think she will look just like a yorkie, just bigger. It is so hard to keep my energetic puppy's hair from looking scruffy! She plays so hard and gets in so much trouble! :) It's extremely difficult to get her daily brushing in especially around her face because she thinks she needs to eat her brush! She's such a confident little diva, which tells me, even if she's not full-bred, she sure fits the description! :) Your little girl was a beauty! Sorry to hear she's passed! :( Your little guy is absolutely adorable too! :) Thank you for the comment. Makes me feel good about her size.

My new lil guy is my first male baby, a gift to me from my vet, I adopted him 4 months ago, he's 2 y/o and he weighs 11 lbs, but is smaller then my last girl. I have had Yorkies (females only) for 30 plus years, All over 9 lbs, all carted all over, I had one with scruffy fur, I ended up giving her puppy hair cuts, that looked the CUESTEST for her, bad hair, all my girls were TOM BOYS, loved to get DOWN & DIRTY, chased, hunted, caught iyiyi. I love their energy. This lil boy I now have was from the city (NY) now he will be a country boy, he now has a big back yard to run and play in. And he LOVES his yard, heaven only knows what kind of mischief he will get into this Spring & summer, I will need to watch him closer then a hawk lol, yard, hunting, will be all new and adventurous to him lol . Yorkies are a hunting breed, expect her to be sticking her face into everything, and then looking like "wild thing" lol. That's the breed. Yep it's nice, cute to cart your lil baby tucked under your arm, but it's the breed that matters. and if your thinking about adding another baby, do your home work if you are looking for a tiny one.

I just LOVE your input! Very informative and relieving in a sense. :) As much as I wanted my Lilly to be small, I'm kind of pleased that she will be bigger. Judging by the growth charts, I'm guessing she will be 9 or 10 lbs max. I have children, one who is 5, and with my research, they say having a bigger yorkie is better for families because they are so fragile. :) She did go hypoglycemic on me once and it was scary! She's getting so big now, I believe we are probably nearly out of the water for it to happen again. I don't like the health risks associated with the smaller babies, so honestly, my initial concern of size has opened a new paradigm for me! I will eventually get another yorkie, and homework is what I've done. I've learned so much about the breed and what to look for now that my next search will not end so quickly! :) Until then, I'm going to enjoy my little girl and I am so excited to watch her grow and change. She may not be breed standard, but she is perfect in my standards! :)

So glad to hear you rescued your little guy! He is so cute! He doesn't look large to me at all! He looks perfect! I'm glad you're able to provide him with a large place to run. They have so much energy! Such mischievous little stinkers. :) My Lilly does stick her face in everything! She loves knocking over the small trashcans throughout the house and digging for food like a scavenger! She's so rotten! They truly are a blessing though! :)
